Had surgery for Pilonidal Sinus? That doesn’t always mean the problem can never come back.

Here’s what most patients don’t know.

Pilonidal Sinus is directly related to hair. Surgery removes the sinus tract, but it does not stop new hair from growing. That’s why recurrence can happen if the root cause is not addressed.

Studies and clinical experience show that without proper hair management, the chances of recurrence can increase significantly over the years.

Waxing and shaving may provide temporary relief, but they are not ideal long-term solutions.

Laser Hair Reduction is considered the gold standard because it targets the hair follicles, reduces hair growth permanently, and helps lower the risk of recurrence.

The goal is simple. Remove the root cause, not just the disease.

If you’ve had Pilonidal Sinus surgery or are planning treatment, this is something you should know.

Comment “HAIR” and I’ll share the complete post-surgery hair management protocol.

One of the most common questions patients ask after piles surgery is:

“How much fiber should I eat?”

The answer is simpler than you think.

Your goal after surgery is to have soft stools that pass easily without pain or straining.

A simple rule is to consume fiber according to your body weight.

For example, if your weight is 60 kg, aim for around 30 grams of fiber daily.

Adequate fiber helps make stools soft and bulky, promotes regular bowel movements, reduces constipation, and lowers the chances of recurrence.

Recovery doesn’t depend only on surgery. Your diet plays a major role in healing and long-term results.

Want my printable all-day fiber diet plan?

Welcome to the Good Gut Series.
One of the most common questions patients ask me is
“What should we eat in between meals when you say we shouldn’t stay hungry for long hours?”
The answer is simple. Your snacks decide your gut health more than you think.
Instead of unhealthy munching, keep smart healthy snacks easily available around you.
Best healthy snack options for digestion and constipation relief:
Seasonal fruits like banana, papaya, apple and chikoo because they are rich in fiber and give instant energy
Mixed dry fruits and seeds for healthy fats and better digestion
Pecan nuts and macadamia nuts which help with constipation and gut health
Protein rich snacks like roasted edamame for long lasting energy and satiety
One simple habit can change everything.
Keep healthy snacks in your backpack, office drawer or car so you don’t end up eating junk when hunger hits.

Good gut health starts with small daily choices.

⏳ Don’t ignore the pain or rely on self-treatment.

Hard stools after piles or fissure surgery can become dangerous if you ignore them.
Most patients panic and start straining which is the biggest mistake.

After surgery, hard stools can happen because of medicines, antibiotics, dehydration or improper bowel preparation. But forcing or straining can cause severe pain, bleeding and even re-opening of fissures.

What should you do instead
Drink 2–3 glasses of warm water immediately
Take the stool softeners already prescribed to you
Avoid high fiber food for that moment
Take soft food with lots of ghee like thin khichdi or daliya
Stay hydrated throughout the day
Take sitz bath before and after passing motion
Do not sit on the toilet seat for more than 3 minutes
And most importantly leave your phone outside
If hard stools continue for more than 2 days after surgery, do not ignore it. Meet your proctologist immediately.
Comment “Hard Stool” and I’ll tell you the immediate solution.
