What is hip pain?

Hip pain can arise from the hip joint itself or from nearby structures such as the lower back, muscles, tendons, or nerves. Not all hip pain means arthritis.

The most common causes include:

Hip arthritis
Muscle or tendon injuries
Bursitis
Lower back problems causing referred pain
Stress fractures
Avascular necrosis (AVN)

What is AVN?
Avascular Necrosis (AVN) means the blood supply to part of the hip bone (usually the femoral head) is reduced or completely blocked. Without adequate blood flow, the bone gradually dies, weakens, and eventually collapses, leading to arthritis.

Does your knee make a clicking sound? 👂🦵

A clicking or popping sound in the knee isn’t always a cause for concern. If it’s not associated with pain, swelling, or locking, it is often a normal occurrence caused by tendons, ligaments, or tiny gas bubbles moving within the joint.

However, if the clicking is painful, recurrent, or accompanied by swelling, instability, or difficulty walking, it may indicate a cartilage injury, meniscus tear, ligament problem, or arthritis and should be evaluated by an orthopaedic specialist.

Listen to your knees—but don’t ignore the warning signs. Early diagnosis can help prevent further joint damage.
