1st July — National Doctor's Day.
Every year on this day, there are posts with flowers, stethoscopes, and thank-you messages. And all of that is deserved.
But I want to say something a little different this year.
Being a doctor means sitting with a patient at 7pm who is scared about a surgery they've been putting off for two years — and taking the time to answer every question until the fear is smaller than the hope.
It means choosing this work knowing that the victories are quiet — a patient who walks without pain again, a family that gets their father back on his feet, a young athlete who returns to the field.
Fifteen years of orthopaedic surgery has taught me that patients don't just need a diagnosis. They need someone who listens, explains, and stands with them through the whole journey.
To every doctor reading this — thank you for the version of yourself you bring to work every day.
And to every patient who has trusted us with their care — that trust is never taken lightly.
