Here’s a quick summary of home remedies for piles - What they actually do, and what they do not.
1. SITZ BATH - Warm water, 10 to 15 minutes, twice a day. Does it work? For temporary relief, yes. The warmth relaxes the muscles around the a**l ca**l and reduces discomfort. But it does not shrink a haemorrhoid. It does not heal a fissure. It is comfort, not cure. There is a difference.
2. CREAMS - Creams and herbal formulations. Some of these contain anti-inflammatory compounds that may reduce local swelling. What they do very effectively is reduce symptoms enough that you feel managed. But do they cure piles that are protruding out? Well, for an advanced grade they rarely cure the condition.
3. DIET - What about Dietary changes? More fibre, more water, less spicy food? This is different. These are real interventions that genuinely matter as part of treatment. They are not a substitute for medical care when the condition is Grade 2 or above, but they are part of the solution.
CORE POINT - You see, the problem with home remedies is not that people use them. It is that they are used instead of getting evaluated from a specialist. A Grade 2 haemorrhoid that gets cream for fourteen months and no evaluation often becomes a Grade 4 by the time it walks into an OPD. That is what delay costs.
