Not every patient with knee pain or knee arthritis needs a total knee replacement surgery.

Many patients improve with:

✔️ Weight management
✔️ Physiotherapy
✔️ Exercise and muscle strengthening
✔️ Medicines and lifestyle changes
✔️ Injections in selected cases

Knee replacement is usually considered when:

❗ Pain becomes severe
❗ Walking and daily activities become difficult
❗ Sleep and quality of life are affected
❗ Conservative treatments stop helping

In this video, Dr. Parag Sancheti explains when knee replacement is truly needed and when non-surgical treatment may still help.

Proud to be part of the Complex Primary Arthroplasty Cadaveric Workshop — a two-day deep dive into the science and surgery of joint replacement.
Meril Life and Sancheti Hospital conducted this hands-on workshop brought together some of India’s finest orthopedic minds at the Symbiosis Centre for Health Skills, Pune — for real cadaveric training, real techniques, and real learning.
Day 1 covered the full spectrum of Total Knee Replacement — from conventional surgical techniques and femoral bone preparation to revision TKA and bone defect management. I addressed the audience on a topic close to my heart - ‘ Surgical Conventional Techniques in TKR’
Day 2 shifted focus to Total Hip Arthroplasty — exploring direct anterior approaches, cemented fixation, complication management, and live cadaver table sessions.
Wish to specially mention the efforts of Meril Team especially Mr. Amit Jha, Mr. Arjun Ardey, Mr. Mahesh Patne, and Ms. Pooja in putting this excellent course together.
When surgeons commit to learning like this, patients win.
Looking forward to conducting more such Cadaveric Courses along with Meril Life.

Pain relief isn’t always found inside an operation theatre.

Sometimes the right diagnosis, physiotherapy, lifestyle changes, injections, or guided rehab can make all the difference.
At the end of the day, the goal is simple — helping you move better, feel stronger, and get back to life with confidence.

Throwback: Honoured and humbled to have been part of JITO Skillathon Pune 2026.
JITO — the Jain International Trade Organisation — is a global movement rooted in socio-economic empowerment, value-based education, and compassion. As a proud member of the Jain community, being invited to speak on this platform was deeply meaningful to me.
I spoke on a topic very close to my heart — Leading from the Front. For me this was a narrative of my daily practice at Sancheti Hospital.
Few key thoughts I shared:
🔹 Lead by action, not instruction — your team observes what you do, especially when you think no one is watching.
🔹 Embrace uncertainty — in the operating theatre, clarity is often a luxury; progress matters more than perfection.
🔹 The art of monotony — greatness is built through consistent, disciplined repetition of doing the right thing every single day. Performing 1,000+ knee replacements a year reinforces this more than any leadership book ever could.
🔹 Trust is everything — it takes years to build and seconds to lose. Create an environment where people feel safe to speak, fail, and grow.
🔹 Consistency over intensity — long-term excellence always outweighs short bursts of brilliance.
🔹 Accountability defines leadership — true leaders take responsibility, especially when things don’t go as planned.
What truly stood out at Skillathon was the energy of the young minds in the room. The spirit of mentorship, growth, and knowledge-sharing was alive in every interaction. They were not just ambitious — they were purposeful, and that gives me immense hope for the future.

A heartfelt thank you to the JITO CFE Pune team for this wonderful opportunity.
Special thanks to Ms. Khushali Chordiya, Ms. Ekta Bhansali & Mr. Rajesh Sakla. Also wish to acknowledge JITO top leadership Mr. Vijay Bhandari, Mr. Lalit Dangi, Mr. Sripal Bachawat, Mr. DK Jain. Special mention also to Ms. Pooja Rathod, Ms. Rita Jain, Ms. Vandana Rathore, Mr. Indrakumar Chajed and Mr. Dinesh Oswal.
Grateful for the conversations, connections, and shared vision. Looking forward to many more such engagements. 🙏

Many patients with knee pain ask:

“Can cartilage regenerator medicines fix my knee?”

The answer is—not exactly the way people think.

Cartilage in the knee has very limited natural healing capacity, and once significantly damaged (like in arthritis), it does not easily “regrow” with tablets alone.

Some supplements (like glucosamine, chondroitin, etc.) may help in reducing symptoms in selected cases, but they do not fully restore lost cartilage.

In this video, Dr. Parag Sancheti explains:

✔️ What cartilage is and why it gets damaged
✔️ Whether medicines can truly regenerate cartilage
✔️ Role of supplements in knee pain
✔️ What actually helps—exercise, weight management, physiotherapy, and proper treatment

👉 Managing knee pain is about the right approach—not just tablets.

One of the most common questions after knee replacement surgery is:

“When will I recover and return to normal daily activities?”

The answer depends on your healing, rehabilitation, strength, and consistency with recovery.

Most patients start walking early after surgery, but full confidence and comfortable day-to-day movement improve gradually over weeks and months.

In this video, Dr. Parag Sancheti explains:

✔️ Early recovery after knee replacement
✔️ Walking, stairs, sitting, and daily routine milestones
✔️ Pain, swelling, and stiffness during healing
✔️ Importance of physiotherapy and muscle strengthening
✔️ When patients usually feel “normal” again

Recovery is not about speed—it’s about safe progress and long-term mobility.

The goal is not just surgery, but returning to a better quality of life.

The recently concluded 19th National Congress of the Indian Society of Hip & Knee Surgeons, held at JW Marriott Pune, was a resounding success with 800+ delegates and 125 faculty members.

It was an academic feast over three days of learning, debating, and advancing hip & knee arthroplasty with leading national and international experts.

I had the privilege of moderating a session on *Mobility Without Fragility* with Dr. Rafael Sierra (Mayo Clinic), discussing how Partial Knee Replacement can restore function in arthritic knees. I also presented *“My Journey of Total Knee Replacement – Lessons Learned & Mistakes to Avoid,”* which was well appreciated, especially by younger delegates.

From Re-Live Surgeries and Masterclasses to *Breakfast with Champions* and a memorable Gala Dinner — ISHKS 2026 truly embodied *Precision, Proficiency & Progress*, the theme of President Dr. H.P.C. Khincha.

A standout moment was the inspiring talk by Gaur Gopal Das on handling challenges and maintaining work-life balance. The doctors’ orchestra from B.J. Medical College and performances by senior surgeons added a vibrant touch to the evening.

Grateful to the entire organizing team and leadership for making this event a grand success.

Looking forward to ISHKS 2027 in Chennai.
