AOI PUNE extends deepest Condolences

A Tribute to Late Nana Patekar 🙏🕊️
In Loving Memory of a Legend & Humanitarian: Late Shri Nana Patekar 🙏✨
Today, Indian cinema and humanity lose a titan. Late Nana Patekar was not just a genius of Marathi and Hindi cinema, but a pure, humble soul who dedicated his life to lifting up others through his selfless work with the NAAM Foundation.
At AOI Pune, we feel deeply privileged to have shared a meaningful journey with him. In November 2026, AOI Pune collaborated with the NAAM Foundation to organize a landmark Multi-Specialty Medical Camp at Taldeo, Mahabaleshwar.
To deliver healthcare to over 105 remote, underserved villages, our teams traveled on tarafa (bamboo rafts) across waters where no standard boats or motor transport could reach. That effort was driven entirely by Nanasaheb's vision—that no human being should be left behind, no matter how remote their home.
Nana Patekar’s life proved that true greatness lies in simplicity, courage, and service to humanity. We bow in respect to his extraordinary legacy and extend our deepest condolences to his family and millions of grieving admirers.

Swardhara 2.0 – A Musical Evening to Remember

The Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI), Pune, witnessed a beautiful blend of music, and celebration at Swardhara 2.0, a musical karaoke evening organized by and for ENT doctors on Sunday evening on 17th May 2026.

The event saw an overwhelming response, with enthusiastic participation and a wonderful turnout from the ENT fraternity—ranging from our young budding doctors to our respected senior colleagues. It was heartening to see everyone come together beyond academics, sharing a common love for music.

This memorable evening was thoughtfully conceptualized and initiated by
Dr. Kavita Choudhari (Past President, AOI Pune 2025–26),
Dr. Ranganath Vaidya,
Dr. Ganesh Wadekar, and
Dr. Dushyant Khedikar.

The event was beautifully anchored by Dr. Garima Singh and Dr. Monika Bhagat, who kept the audience engaged throughout with interactive quizzes, rapid-fire rounds, and surprise elements that added curiosity to the entire programme.

What made the evening even more special was the active involvement of families—spouses and children—who thoroughly enjoyed moments designed just for them.

The programme concluded on a high note, with everyone coming together on the dance floor, celebrating the spirit of togetherness, followed by a delightful dinner.

The evening also set the tone for what lies ahead, with discussions around upcoming academic activities led by the current AOI Pune President,
Dr. Vaishali Bafna (2026–27).

Swardhara 2.0, continuing the legacy initiated during Dr. Kavita Choudhari’s presidency, carried forward the spirit beautifully this year with a charming floral theme, adding warmth to the entire experience.

AOI Pune marked a grand and memorable opening event for the year 2026–2027. With an impressive 87 registrations, the program brought together outstanding speakers from diverse specialties, creating a rich and engaging academic environment.

The event beautifully blended academic discussions with insightful real-life experiences, making it both informative and relatable. A highlight of the program was the “Podcast of ENT Legends,” a novel concept that was very well received and will certainly be explored further in the future.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere were the birthday celebrations and the formation of the AOI Ignite team, both of which brought fresh energy and value to the organizing committee.

Installation ceremony was held in the hands of our chief guest Dr Ashesh Bhumkar. He installed the new president of AOI Pune Dr Vaishali Bafna and Vice President Dr Aditya Yeolekar.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone for your enthusiastic participation and continued support.

🌟 PUNECON 2026: A Landmark Event in Otolaryngology! 🌟
What an incredible two days of learning, networking, and surgical brilliance! AOI Pune successfully organized PUNECON 2026 on March 21st & 22nd at the Pune International Centre (PIC), and the energy was truly palpable.
🔪 Day 1: Surgical Mastery & Academic Excellence
The conference kicked off with a high-impact FESS Live Surgery Workshop, streamed live from Jain ENT Hospital. We were honored to have the maestro himself, Dr. Satish Jain, as our chief operating faculty.
Dr. Jain’s passion for teaching transformed complex sinoscopic procedures into masterclasses of efficiency. From radiological assessments and MRI readings to meticulous post-operative care, he empowered every surgeon in the room with newfound confidence.
The afternoon featured the prestigious Dr. W.G. Atre Oration, also delivered by Dr. Satish Jain, followed by our formal Inaugural Ceremony.
🏛️ Honoring Excellence
We were privileged to welcome Prof. Sunil Bhagwat (Director, IISER Pune) as our Chief Guest. His intriguing keynote address highlighted the vital need for interdisciplinary research to bridge the gap between science and technology.
A highlight of the evening was bestowing the Lifetime Achievement Award upon the legendary Dr. Kailash Sant. A senior AOI Pune member, skull base surgeon, otologist, and multi-talented persona—Dr. Sant is a true inspiration to us all.
🏃‍♂️ Day 2: The Academic Marathon
Day 2 was a "super-duper marathon" of knowledge! The schedule was packed with:
* Curated Guest Speaker Talks & Award Paper Presentations.
* The high-energy Nulife Quiz.
* "Clash of ENTitans" – A thrilling cross-fire debate that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

Around 200-250 students from 1 st std to 9 th std screened.

From "Dizzy" to "Decisive"—nearly 50 delegates spent the day mastering the nuances of BPPV management.
Highlights of the Day:
✅ Expert Insights: Deep dives into vestibular anatomy and nystagmus laws by the legendary Dr. Ramesh Rohiwal and our esteemed faculty: Dr. Swanand Gholap, Dr. Dushyant Khedikar, Dr. Nikhil Gokhale, Dr. Ajinkya Kelkar, and Dr. Rahul Magar.
✅ Clinical Clarity: Differentiating central vs. peripheral vertigo and decoding atypical BPPV patterns.
