The Biggest Breastfeeding Myths… Often Come From the People Who Care About You ❤️

Many breastfeeding myths are passed down through generations with love—but not always with scientific evidence.

They mean well—but not every piece of advice is backed by science.

❌ “Your milk isn’t enough.”

❌ “Formula will help the baby sleep longer and is better at night.”

❌ “Feed only every 3 hours.”

❌ “Your milk looks watery.”

❌ “The baby is crying because your milk isn’t enough.”

❌ “Give water in summer.”

❌ “Don’t breastfeed in public.”

❌ “Stop breastfeeding once teeth appear.”

👉🏻 Before changing your breastfeeding journey, check the facts—not the myths and ask yourself:

✅ Is it supported by scientific evidence?

✅ Has my pediatrician or lactation consultant recommended it?

✅ Is my baby growing well?

Had the privilege of sharing insights and experiences in Pediatric Critical Care with colleagues, trainees, and fellow pediatricians dedicated to improving outcomes for critically ill children from Basics to Best practices in PICU at the Maharashtra State Pediatric Critical Care Conference, Nagpur.

Academic interactions like these not only help us exchange knowledge but also inspire continuous learning and collaboration in our mission to provide the best possible care to every child.

My sincere thanks to the organizing committee for the opportunity and to all participants for the engaging discussions.

Every lecture is an opportunity to learn twice—once while preparing and again while interacting with passionate minds.

Now, people are asking an Al tool :

1) Can I take this medicine?
2) Are my symptoms serious?
3) What is my diagnosis?
4) Has the doctor prescribed correct medicine and tests?

Al is a wonderful tool. I use it myself every day to summarise research articles, prepare short presentations with my content, generate images.

But there is one biggest limitation of AI:

Al provides information. But Healthcare requires judgment.

A diagnosis is not just conclusion of symptoms put together in AI.

It has some background.
A history.
A detailed physical examination.
Investigations.
Risk factors. Past events.
Emotions.
Family circumstances.
And subtle clues that only emerge through a conversation with a trained professional.

Moreover in Pediatrics, each child needs to be examined thoroughly for their symptoms as children cannot explain or tell us about how they feel.

As healthcare professionals, our role is evolving daily.

I would advise parents - not to use Al as a substitute for professional medical advice.

Because when it comes to health, accuracy isn’t just important, it’s life-saving.

Rising Infections in Children: When Do They Become Life-Threatening?

Dr. Milind Jambagi concludes, “Even though certain childhood infections are on the rise, most are manageable with the right care. The key is to watch for warning signs and not ignore symptoms that seem unusual or severe. What may appear to be a minor illness can turn serious if treatment is delayed, so timely care is essential in children.”
