Academic Visit to Poona Geriatric Care Centre – Learning About Elderly Care & Rehabilitation
Poona Geriatric Care Centre continuously undertakes various initiatives focused on the holistic care, health, rehabilitation, and active and dignified ageing of senior citizens. Many educational institutions and students visit the Centre to understand and study these care practices and rehabilitation-oriented programmes.
Recently, professors and students from the School of Social Work, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, visited Poona Geriatric Care Centre as part of an academic study visit.
The visit was organised by Dr. Prakash Yadav, Professor at Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth. During the visit, the students were given detailed information about elderly care services, day-to-day care management, rehabilitation-based programmes, therapeutic activities, and various initiatives undertaken to support the physical, psychological, and social well-being of senior citizens.
The students also gained valuable practical insight into the importance of care, dignity, compassion, active engagement, and rehabilitation in the lives of older adults.
Such academic visits provide students with meaningful practical exposure to geriatric care and social work, while helping them develop a more sensitive and professional understanding of the needs and challenges faced by senior citizens.
