Yin Butterfly pose is held for longer duration to stretch the body targetting ligaments, bones and joints. It is a passive stretch.
Yang Butterfly is held for shorter duration working on lenghthening and strengthening muscles. It is an active muscular effort.

Balasana - plank - 1 leg plank - flip dog - chaturangadandasana to the mat - balasana ( both sides)

Dolphin - 1 leg dolphin - knee to arm - 1 leg dolphin pose - hop up to pinch Mayurasana prep - dolphin (both sides)
Finally

Every part of life has a yin and a yang to it. Similarly Yoga also has its variations relating to Yin & Yang. Every active posture is Yang and passive posture is Yin. Yin postures infuse energy forces whereas Yang posture builds strength & stamina.
