GYNECOMASTIA: IS IT JUST FAT, OR SOMETHING MORE?
An enlarged male chest is not always caused by excess body fat.
Sometimes, it may be pseudogynecomastia, where fat accumulation contributes to chest fullness. In such cases, weight loss, exercise and overall fitness may improve the appearance.
But in true gynecomastia, excess glandular tissue develops beneath the ni**le area. Gym workouts can strengthen the chest muscles, but they usually cannot remove glandular tissue.
So, does everyone need surgery? No.
The right treatment depends on:
• Whether the enlargement is fat, glandular tissue, or both
• Hormonal and medication-related factors
• Duration and severity of the condition
• Skin looseness and chest shape
• Pain, tenderness or other symptoms
• The individual’s health and expectations
A detailed examination by a qualified plastic surgeon can help identify the actual cause. Surgery may be considered only when clinically appropriate, especially when the condition is persistent and does not improve with lifestyle measures.
Do not rely only on gym advice, online videos or self-diagnosis. Get a proper evaluation first.
