DC Rajouri inspects Drug De-Addiction Centre, Interacts with patients

‎‎RAJOURI, MAY 14: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today visited the Drug De-Addiction Centre in Rajouri and interacted with the patients undergoing treatment and rehabilitation there.

‎‎The Deputy Commissioner took stock of the facilities and services being provided at the centre. He held a detailed interaction with the patients to understand their experiences and progress. They shared their feedback and expressed satisfaction over the facilities, care and counselling being provided at the centre. ‎ He advised them to stay committed towards recovery and become active participants in nation-building activities. He also encouraged them to adopt a positive lifestyle and work towards a brighter future.

The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the creative items and decorative materials prepared by the clients at the centre and appreciated their talent, creativity and dedication. He said such activities play an important role in boosting confidence, promoting positivity and helping individuals channel their energy towards constructive and productive pursuits during the rehabilitation process.

‎‎The concerned officials briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the activities and rehabilitation measures being undertaken for the recovery and reintegration of the affected individuals into society.

‎‎‎The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the staff and counsellors engaged at the centre for their dedicated services towards rehabilitation and awareness against substance abuse.

Mega Awareness Event held at DDAC Rajouri under 100-Day campaign*

RAJOURI, MAY 11: On the directions of Deputy
Commissioner Rajouri Shri Abhishek Sharma (IAS), a mega awareness event was organised on 11th May 2026, at NESSWO Drug De-addiction Centre (DDAC) as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) 100-Day Campaign.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from recovered individuals, officials, inmates and members of the Civil Society, besides officials from the other stakeholder departments. A series of awareness, motivational and recreational activities were organised at the event to educate and encourage participants towards leading a drug-free life.

The event commenced with a pledge ceremony wherein all participants took a solemn pledge and reaffirmed their commitment towards building a drug-free society.

A guided yoga session was also conducted to promote physical fitness, mental calmness and overall well-being among the participants.

HoD Psychiatrist GMC & AH, District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri, DYSP Headquarters and SHO delivered insightful lectures on measures to prevent drug menace. The speakers highlighted the psychological impact of substance abuse, social and legal consequences, preventive measures and rehabilitation support mechanisms being implemented under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
To encourage emotional expression and positive engagement, a musical programme was organised featuring playing of different musical instruments.

A special "Wall of Hope” display was also inaugurated by the parents of patients, marking an emotional and encouraging moment at the programme.

The display featured messages of hope, recovery and positivity along with DIY items prepared by inmates, showcasing their creativity, efforts and rehabilitation journey.

The event also featured several fun and recreational activities.

The Pad Yatra organized under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan in Rajouri, led by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, shri Manoj Sinha, marked an important step in the fight against drug abuse and substance dependence in the region.

This initiative was aimed at spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and promoting a healthy, addiction-free society. The Pad Yatra served as a powerful medium to connect directly with the public, especially the youth, encouraging them to stay away from narcotics and adopt positive lifestyles. It highlighted the administration’s strong commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse through collective action and community part.
NESSWO District De Addiction Centre in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare and District Administration Rajouri took active participation in the Yatra.

“Don’t Touch Innocents, Don’t Spare Culprits”: LG Sinha Flags Off 100-Day Anti-Drug Drive in J&K

Lieutenant Governor reviews Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan preparedness, calls for mass public participation and strict action against drug traffickers

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the 100-day intensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, aimed at eradicating drug abuse across the Union Territory.

The campaign will commence with a mega “Padyatra” from MA Stadium, Jammu on April 11, followed by a similar launch in Srinagar in May.

LG Sinha chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparedness for the upcoming 100-day intensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan.

The campaign, aimed at eradicating drug abuse from the Union Territory, will be marked by a series of high-impact awareness programs. The Lieutenant Governor will flag off a mega “Padyatra” from MA Stadium, Jammu, on April 11, 2026, followed by a similar large-scale launch in Srinagar during the first week of May.

The Lieutenant Governor emphasized on mass public participation of students and youth, NCC, NSS, Scouts & Guides, volunteers, civil society organizations, political parties, public representatives and the general public to maximize outreach and awareness.

“The influx of drugs to the UT is part of a larger international conspiracy to jeopardize the future of the youth of Jammu Kashmir. Every section of the society must join this fight against drug menace”, the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor directed for continuous and intensive drives to dismantle drug trafficking networks.

‘Don’t Touch the Innocent and Don’t Spare the Culprit’ is our policy. We must identify the real victims of drug abuse and make committed efforts for their rehabilitation,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The meeting also discussed the series of activities planned and department-wise activity calendar prepared for the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan. UT and Divisional Level Committees have already been constituted for effective implementation of the IEC campaign and action plan.

The Lieutenant Governor further directed to make the campaign a Jan Andolan with active participation of people. He also called for integration of public suggestions along with the feedback mechanism to make this campaign more impactful. Common public should also be encouraged to report the drug abuse cases, he said.

Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor; Sarmad Hafeez, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Jammu; V.K Birdi, IGP Kashmir; DIGs, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs and other senior officials.
