Brush twice a day for 2 minutes each time using a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.

Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to where your teeth meet your gums.

Use gentle, small circular motions rather than scrubbing back and forth. Brush:
The outer surfaces of all teeth.
The inner surfaces of all teeth.
The chewing surfaces using short back-and-forth strokes.
Brush the inside of your front teeth by holding the brush vertically and making gentle up-and-down strokes.
Brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.
Spit out the toothpaste, but avoid rinsing with lots of water immediately afterward. This allows the fluoride to stay on your teeth longer for better protection.
A few additional tips:
Replace your toothbrush (or electric toothbrush head) every 3–4 months, or sooner if the bristles become frayed.
Floss once a day to clean between teeth where a toothbrush can't reach.
If you consume acidic foods or drinks (like citrus fruits or soda), wait about 30 minutes before brushing to avoid damaging softened enamel.
