Do u ever ask yourself: How is Yoga asana (yoga postures) different to other ways of moving the body?

For example, how is a crescent lunge (anjaneyasana) different from a lunge you do at the gym?

The answer lies in what we are cultivating in the pose. physical benefits or mind and prana too?

Once we recognise this it can completely transform our experience of Yoga and its impact to lead us closer to the awareness, capacity for change and deeper connection that system of Hatha Yoga is designed to cultivate.

Welcome back to our IG series on Restorative Hatha Yoga.

In this series, we’ll explore the practice of restorative hatha yoga.

This practice is all about support!

Bolsters, blankets, and blocks become invitations for the body to release effort and settle into rest.

Restorative yoga helps create the conditions for the nervous system to shift from holding and guarding into regulation, ease, and connection.

Props bolster the body so areas of surface tension and deep layers of resistance can let go.

Follow along to see how this practice creates the conditions for your system to shift into rest, regulation and connection.

Welcome back to our photo series: A window into Rishikesh…

Our time in India is an immersion into daily ritual.

Hatha Yoga practice uses the body as an alter.

…An internalisation of connection and devotion that has been practiced in India through external ritual for millennia.

Pictured: flower puja led by our at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram.

This Ashram was a centre for Vedic knowledge and mediation practice for people from all around the world who came to learn from Maharishi and to live in devotional community.

It has not been operational for years but we visit the historical site of relevance to the Himalayan tradition, to participate in puja (ceremony) and feel the energy that the walls seem to still old after so many years of absorbing the hum of chanting, discourse and meditation that occurred here.

🌸

Is India calling you?

2027 marks 10 years of leading people on pilgrimage to Rishikesh. An honouring of the cultural and historic roots of Yoga which we feel is a great privilege for all dedicated practitioners.

We all know what it is like to feel stressed, fatigued, overloaded and even burned out.

The kind of load that a full night sleep can’t even shift.

This is when we need deep rest!

Beyond rest is an immersion designed to take you beyond simply resting. It is an exploration of the neuroscience and yogic techniques for creating the conditions for deep rest.

As we release what our mind-body is carrying we return to authenticity, contentment and creativity…we return to feeling like our true selves again.

We have 2 final places remaining for anyone feeling the call for understanding and experiencing deep rest

A peek into our Clear Mind Open heart workshop.

60 min classes are an important part of daily practice but they barely scratch the surface of what Ta***ic Hatha Yoga has to offer practitioners.

Yesterday we spent a special 3 hrs practicing together.

Time for a complete practice of asana, pranayama, savasana, kriya and meditation.

Time for deeper direct experience with awareness, prana and the ta***ic wisdom centres found in the body.

Time to amplify practice with philosophy and discussion about the way techniques in the system of ta***ic yoga are designed to help us process where we feel blocked or stuck in order to experience a clearer mind and an open heart.

Thank you to all who came and shared the space with us.
