World Hepatitis Day

Hepatitis is often called a silent disease because it can damage the liver for years without causing noticeable symptoms. If left untreated, it can lead to serious conditions such as liver cirrhosis, liver failure, and liver cancer. The good news is that timely awareness, vaccination, and early diagnosis can help prevent many of these complications.

Common Risk Factors:
• Unsafe injections or contaminated needles
• Contaminated food or drinking water (Hepatitis A & E)
• Unprotected sexual contact
• Sharing razors, toothbrushes, or needles
• Infected blood transfusions (where screening is inadequate)

How to Protect Yourself:
• Get vaccinated against Hepatitis A & B
• Practice good hygiene and wash your hands regularly
• Drink safe water and eat hygienic food
• Avoid sharing personal items like razors and toothbrushes
• Get screened if you are at risk or have persistent liver-related symptoms

Vaccination against Hepatitis A and B is one of the safest and most effective ways to protect your liver. Early detection and timely treatment can prevent serious liver disease and help you lead a healthier life.
