#यूरिक एसिड (Uric Acid) शरीर में बनने वाला एक वेस्ट प्रोडक्ट है, जो प्यूरीन नामक प्रोटीन के टूटने से बनता है। सामान्यतः किडनी इसे फिल्टर कर पेशाब के रास्ते बाहर निकाल देती है, लेकिन इसके अधिक बनने या किडनी द्वारा कम फिल्टर होने पर खून में इसका स्तर बढ़ जाता है। यह स्थिति जोड़ों में दर्द, सूजन (गाउट/गठिया) और किडनी स्टोन का कारण बन सकती है।

शरीर में यूरिक एसिड बढ़ने (हाइपरयूरिसीमिया) के प्रमुख लक्षणों में जोड़ों में तेज दर्द, सूजन और लालिमा (विशेषकर पैर के अंगूठे में), उठने-बैठने में अकड़न, एड़ी में दर्द, गुर्दे में पथरी (Kidney Stones) और त्वचा के नीचे गांठें (टोफी) बनना शामिल हैं। इसे गाउट (Gout) के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जो रात में अधिक बढ़ सकता है।
