PCOS is Now Being Renamed as PMOS 🌸

A major global medical update has recently changed the way we understand PCOS.

The condition commonly known as PCOS (Polycystic O***y Syndrome) is now being renamed to PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

Why the change?

Because PCOS is not just about “ovarian cysts.”
In fact, many women with PCOS may not even have cysts in their ovaries.

This condition affects much more than reproductive health.
It is closely linked with:
✔ī¸ Hormonal imbalance
✔ī¸ Insulin resistance and metabolism
✔ī¸ Weight changes
✔ī¸ Irregular periods
✔ī¸ Fertility issues
✔ī¸ Skin and hair problems
✔ī¸ Emotional and mental well-being

The new name, PMOS, better reflects the true nature of this condition as a whole-body hormonal and metabolic disorder.

This change is an important step toward improving awareness, diagnosis, and long-term care for women worldwide.

To every woman—
please remember, irregular periods and hormonal symptoms should never be ignored.

Early diagnosis, healthy lifestyle changes, and timely treatment can make a significant difference.

Your health deserves attention, awareness, and care. 💖

Many young adults delay health checkups because they feel healthy. However, cholesterol problems can develop silently for years. Many young patients tell me, “Doctor, cholesterol problems happen only after 40, right?”

The truth is, I am now seeing high cholesterol more frequently in people in their 20s and 30s. Busy schedules, stress, unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, smoking, and poor sleep are affecting heart health much earlier than before.

What worries me most is that high cholesterol usually develops silently. Most people do not feel any symptoms until complications begin.

That is why I always encourage routine health checkups, especially if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, or a family history of heart disease.
Routine health checkups help detect:
High cholesterol
Diabetes
Hypertension
Lifestyle diseases
Early heart disease risks
Early diagnosis allows timely treatment and better disease management.
Do not wait for symptoms to appear before taking care of your health.

A very common belief is that jaggery (gur) and honey are healthier alternatives to sugar. But the real question is—are they safe for diabetic patients?

The answer is—use with extreme caution.

Myth: Jaggery and honey are natural, so they are safe for diabetes.
Fact: Both jaggery and honey raise blood sugar levels almost similar to regular sugar. Being “natural” does not make them safe for uncontrolled consumption.

Myth: Replacing sugar with jaggery or honey will control diabetes.
Fact: They may contain trace minerals, but their impact on blood glucose remains high.

Reality:
Jaggery and honey are forms of carbohydrates that can cause a rapid spike in blood sugar if consumed in excess.

Important advice:
â€ĸ Avoid regular use in daily diet
â€ĸ If taken, use in very small quantities and occasionally
â€ĸ Always monitor blood sugar levels
â€ĸ Never substitute them freely for sugar without medical guidance

For diabetic patients, the focus should be on overall balanced diet and portion control—not just replacing one sweetener with another.

Natural doesn’t always mean safe. Awareness is the key.

As a gynaecologist, I have had the privilege of witnessing some of the most emotional and beautiful moments in life—
the moment a woman first hears her baby’s heartbeat,
the tears of joy during childbirth,
and the unconditional love in a mother’s eyes when she holds her child for the very first time.

Motherhood is not just about giving birth.
It is about sacrifice, strength, patience, and endless love.

Behind every mother is a story of courage—
sleepless nights, silent prayers, pain endured with a smile, and a heart that always puts her child before herself.

Today, on Mother’s Day, I want to salute every mother, every mother-to-be, and every woman who nurtures life with love and care.

Your strength inspires the world more than words can express.

To all the mothers—
thank you for being the heartbeat of every family and the foundation of every home.

Wishing you love, happiness, good health, and endless smiles this Mother’s Day. 💖

đŸŒĄī¸ Fever – Do You Always Need Medicines?
Fever is not a disease—it’s your body’s natural response to infection.
❌ Myth: Every fever needs antibiotics
✅ Fact: Most fevers are viral—antibiotics don’t work in such cases
❌ Myth: Paracetamol is harmful
✅ Fact: It is safe when taken in the right dose, but it only reduces fever—it doesn’t cure the cause
âš ī¸ Important:
â€ĸ Don’t take antibiotics without doctor’s advice
â€ĸ Take rest & stay hydrated
â€ĸ Consult a doctor if fever lasts more than 2–3 days
💡 Remember: Treat fever wisely, not blindly.
