Hair fall ππΌββοΈ
Our hair cycle consists of 4 main stages.
Anagen - Growing phase (80-85% of all hair)
Catagen- Transition phase (3% of all hair )
Telogen- Resting phase (10-15% of all hair )
Exogen - shedding phase
Severe hair fall is a common cause of temporary hair loss due to the excessive shedding of resting / telogen hair after some shock of the system a.k.a TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM
A hair follicle usually grows anagen
Hair for 4 years or so, then rests for about 4 months.
A new anagen hair begins ti grow under the resting telogen hair and pushes it out.
HENCE, it is normal to lose up to about 100 hair a day on oneβs comb , brush, in the basin or on the pillow , as a result of the normal scalp hair cycle .
If there is some shock to the system, as many as 70% of the anagen hair can be precipitated into telogen,thus reverting the usual ratio .
CAUSES:
Stress
Illness
Post child birth
Underlying disorders
Certain medication
Environmental factors- seasonal
Thus leading to SEVERE HAIR FALL AND ANXIETY .
