Emotional Regulation in Autism & ADHD 🧠❤️
Self-laughing, sudden crying, anger, screaming, frustration, or difficulty calming down can sometimes be connected to emotional regulation and sensory processing challenges.
For children with autism and ADHD, learning to identify emotions, manage sensory input, communicate needs, and develop coping strategies can be an important part of their development.
Occupational therapy for autism can support emotional regulation, sensory regulation, attention, body awareness, and functional participation in daily activities. 🌱
Remember: every behaviour is communication. Instead of only stopping the behaviour, let’s understand the need behind it. 💛

🥜 BEST DRY FRUITS FOR AUTISM? SAVE THIS! 🧠✨
Dry fruits can be a nutritious addition to a child’s balanced autism diet. They provide healthy fats, fiber, protein and important micronutrients — but remember, dry fruits are food, not medicine, and they do not cure autism. ❤️
🌰 Walnuts → Plant-based Omega-3 (ALA) + healthy fats
🍇 Raisins → Potassium + fiber
🥜 Cashews → Protein + fiber + minerals
The goal isn’t a “special autism food” — it’s a balanced, varied diet that supports overall nutrition, growth and development. 🌱
⚠️ For young children, serve dry fruits safely according to age and chewing ability, as whole nuts can be a choking hazard.
Save this for your child’s nutrition guide & share it with an autism parent! 💙

🗣️ From Speech → Language → Conversation! 💬
A child may know many words, but the next important step is learning how to use those words to communicate, describe, answer questions and have a conversation.
One simple but powerful activity is Picture Description 🖼️
We show a picture and encourage the child to:
👉 Identify people, objects and actions
👉 Name and describe what they see
👉 Build sentences
👉 Answer WH-questions
👉 Explain what is happening
👉 Share ideas and thoughts
👉 Take turns in conversation
This activity supports speech development, language development, vocabulary, sentence formation, cognitive skills, attention and conversational communication.
For children with autism or ADHD, structured picture-based activities can be incorporated into Speech Therapy and Language Therapy according to the child’s individual communication level.
🎯 The goal isn’t just “Can my child speak?”
The bigger goal is: “Can my child use communication meaningfully in everyday life?”
Save this activity and try it at home! ❤️

L1-79 & Autism: Could a New Medicine Support Social Communication? 🧠💬
L1-79 is an investigational drug being studied for autism, with research exploring whether it may help areas such as social communication and interaction.
But there’s an important point parents should understand 👇
Medicine alone is not a replacement for therapy.
For children with autism, skills learned during Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, ABA, and Special Education need to be practiced across different people, places, and situations. This is called generalisation—using a skill learned in therapy in real-life situations.
For example:
👉 Child learns requesting in therapy → requests at home
👉 Learns turn-taking with therapist → uses it with parents/siblings
👉 Learns communication skills → uses them at school and in the community
L1-79 is still an investigational autism drug, so parents should not use or seek it as an established treatment without medical guidance.
Follow for more evidence-based information on autism, autism medicine, occupational therapy, speech development, sensory integration and child development. ❤️

Clear speech starts with clear articulation! 🗣️✨
Articulation is an important part of speech development—helping children produce sounds correctly and communicate more clearly. With the right speech therapy, consistent practice, and parent involvement, children can work on their speech sounds step by step. ❤️
For children with autism, speech delay, language delay, or articulation difficulties, early support can make a meaningful difference in communication skills.
🎯 Speech therapy is not just about talking—it’s about helping a child communicate, be understood, and express themselves with confidence.
Save this for your child’s speech journey! 📌

Speech Therapy is for SPEECH & COMMUNICATION — not Occupational Therapy! 🗣️
Occupational Therapy (OT) supports sensory processing, fine motor skills, handwriting, physical skills, self-regulation, emotions, attention, and daily-life independence.
Speech Therapy focuses on speech development, language, communication, understanding, expression, articulation, social communication, and feeding/oral-motor skills when appropriate.
For autistic children, OT + Speech Therapy can work together, but they have different goals and different areas of expertise. ❤️
Don’t confuse sensory therapy with speech therapy — understand what your child actually needs and choose the right professional support.

Speech Development Tools Every Parent Should Know 🗣️👄
If you’re working on speech development, oral-motor skills and sensory regulation can be important pieces of the therapy plan. Two commonly used tools are chew tubes and, when clinically appropriate, oral-motor tools such as a Z-Vibe—but they should not be used blindly or as a replacement for individualized assessment.
🦷 Chew Tube Benefits
✔️ Supports chewing practice
✔️ Helps develop jaw strength and stability
✔️ Encourages controlled biting and chewing
✔️ Provides appropriate oral sensory input
✔️ Can support oral-motor awareness
✔️ May help children who seek oral input
✔️ Can be incorporated into feeding and oral-motor activities
⚠️ Important: A chew tube does NOT directly “teach speech.” Speech development depends on many factors including oral-motor control, motor planning, language development, imitation, attention and communication skills.
What about Z-Vibe?
Z-Vibe and similar vibrating oral tools can provide sensory input, but the response varies from child to child. For some children, extra stimulation may be distracting or uncomfortable. The right tool should be selected by a qualified Speech Therapist/Occupational Therapist based on the child’s individual sensory and oral-motor needs.
🗣️ Speech Development = More Than Just One Tool!
Oral-motor activities should complement—not replace—evidence-based speech therapy, language intervention, play, imitation and functional communication practice.

🚨 A New Autism Medicine Being Studied?
What if a future autism medicine could help target one of the biggest challenges in Autism Spectrum Disorder — social communication?
🧠 L1-79 is an investigational drug that has been studied in children/adolescents and young adults with autism. A Phase 2 clinical trial looked at its potential impact on social communication and interaction, along with safety and tolerability.

Earlier research showed promising signals in some participants, but these findings still need to be confirmed through stronger clinical evidence. L1-79 is NOT an FDA-approved treatment for autism at this time.
For parents, the key message is: research is moving forward—but don’t start any investigational medicine without guidance from a qualified doctor.
And remember, medication research does not replace individualized occupational therapy, speech therapy, language intervention, behavioral support and parent training when these are appropriate for a child.

💬 Would you like us to make a detailed reel on L1-79: how it works, clinical trials & what parents should know?

🚨 Autism Supplements & Medicine: What Parents Should Know
Can medicine or supplements “cure” autism? ❌
No single autism medicine or supplement can cure autism. But the right medical support can help manage specific concerns such as sleep difficulties, nutritional deficiencies, anxiety, ADHD symptoms, seizures, or other co-occurring conditions when prescribed by a qualified doctor.
🧠 Supplements should never replace therapy.
For children with autism, a comprehensive approach may include:
🗣️ Speech Therapy – communication & language skills
👐 Occupational Therapy – sensory processing, daily living & motor skills
🎯 ABA / Behavioural Support – learning, communication & adaptive behaviour
🥗 Nutrition & supplements – only when medically appropriate or when deficiencies are identified
💊 Medicine – only when prescribed for a specific medical/behavioral need
Every special needs child is different. Before starting any autism supplement, vitamin, medicine or “brain booster,” consult your child’s pediatrician/developmental specialist.
