Sometimes, progress doesn’t look dramatic…
It looks like one more repetition. One more breath. One more step. ❤️🫁

In this video, we see a person performing exercise with a simple but powerful goal — helping the body become more efficient at handling physical activity.

With regular, appropriate exercise, the body can adapt to movement and improve its ability to manage heart rate, breathing and oxygen use during activity. 💪

The journey isn’t about doing everything at once.
It’s about starting where you are and building from there.

✨ Better movement
✨ Better exercise tolerance
✨ More confidence in your body
✨ Progress, one session at a time

Your body can adapt — but it needs the right movement, consistency and guidance.

🌬️ Is breathlessness affecting your daily life?

Do you get short of breath while walking, climbing stairs, or doing simple activities? Your symptoms may be telling you something important about your lung health.

The Modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) Dyspnea Scale helps healthcare professionals assess how breathlessness affects everyday activities—from strenuous exercise to getting dressed.

📊 Understand your breathlessness:
0️⃣ Breathless only during strenuous exercise
1️⃣ Breathless when hurrying or walking uphill
2️⃣ Walking slower than others your age due to breathlessness
3️⃣ Stopping for breath after walking about 100 meters
4️⃣ Too breathless to leave the house or get dressed

⚠️ Breathlessness should not be ignored. If your symptoms are new, worsening, or interfering with daily life, speak with a qualified healthcare professional.

✨ Your lungs deserve attention. Take the first step toward better breathing!

👇 Comment “BREATHE” if you want to understand your breathlessness better.

🫁 Your lungs don’t just need air… they need the RIGHT balance of air + blood flow.

Think of your lungs like a delivery system 🚚

🌬️ Ventilation (V) = air reaching the tiny air sacs (alveoli)
🩸 Perfusion (Q) = blood reaching those same air sacs

For your body to get oxygen properly, air and blood need to meet at the right place.

That balance is called the V/Q ratio.

👉 Normal V/Q ≈ 0.8

But when the balance is disturbed, oxygen exchange can become less effective.

🔴 Low V/Q / Shunt:
Air isn’t reaching an area properly, but blood is still flowing through it → less oxygen gets into the blood.

🔵 High V/Q / Dead Space:
Air reaches an area, but blood flow is too low → that air isn’t being used effectively.

💡 Simple example:
Imagine a restaurant where food = oxygen and delivery vehicles = blood.
If there’s food but no delivery vehicles → wasted food.
If there are vehicles but no food → wasted trips.
Your lungs work best when both arrive together.

That’s why proper cardiopulmonary assessment + rehabilitation matters. 🫁

🌬️ “The cough wasn’t the real problem… the mucus was.”

A patient came in struggling with chest congestion, thick mucus, and difficulty breathing comfortably.
Sometimes, when secretions build up in the lungs, simply coughing harder isn’t enough.

That’s where percussion in physiotherapy can play a supportive role. 👋🫁

Gentle, clinically guided chest percussion may help:
✔️ Loosen and mobilize secretions
✔️ Support mucus clearance
✔️ Improve ventilation in appropriate patients
✔️ Make breathing feel easier
✔️ Support recovery alongside the right treatment plan

But here’s the important part: chest percussion isn’t for everyone. It should be selected and performed by a trained physiotherapist based on the patient’s condition.

💬 Dealing with excessive mucus, chest congestion or breathing difficulty?
Don’t just keep ignoring the symptoms.

🚨 RESPIRATORY FAILURE IS NOT JUST “LOW OXYGEN.”

Did you know respiratory failure can be classified into 4 different types—and each one can have a different underlying cause?

🫁 Type 1 – Hypoxemic: Mainly a problem with oxygen exchange
💨 Type 2 – Hypercapnic: Carbon dioxide builds up due to inadequate ventilation
🫁 Type 3 – Perioperative: Often associated with atelectasis after surgery
❤️ Type 4 – Shock-related: Respiratory muscle dysfunction associated with hypoperfusion

Understanding the type and cause is crucial for choosing the right respiratory management and rehabilitation approach.

🫁 Your breathing muscles need training too!

In this video, the patient is performing myofunctional exercises—targeted exercises that work on the muscles involved in oral function, tongue posture, and breathing patterns.

For selected lung patients, improving these muscle functions may support better breathing mechanics and overall respiratory rehabilitation. 💨

✨ Potential benefits include:
✔️ Better breathing pattern & coordination
✔️ Improved oral and tongue muscle function
✔️ Support for airway function
✔️ Better control of breathing during activity
✔️ Improved exercise tolerance when combined with a proper pulmonary rehab program
✔️ Helps patients become more aware of their breathing habits

💡 Important: Myofunctional exercises are not a replacement for medical treatment. They should be prescribed according to the patient’s condition and rehabilitation needs.

🌬️ Are you really using your diaphragm when you breathe?

Many people breathe mainly from their chest instead of using their diaphragm efficiently. This can affect breathing control, posture, and overall respiratory efficiency.

✨ Diaphragm activation exercises help you learn to engage this important breathing muscle and improve your breathing pattern with proper guidance.

At PULMONIC, we focus on targeted exercises—not guesswork—to help patients improve their breathing and functional capacity. 💙
