The Process of Addiction:

There is sometimes a perception that addiction is something that either exists in a person’s character or does not. This idea can lead to a belief that a person who is struggling with a substance or alcohol addiction may have had one drink or tried an illicit drug one time and immediately became addicted.

However, the reality is a bit more complex than that.

The stages of addiction include:

Initial use.
Misuse.
Tolerance.
Dependence.
Addiction
Relapse.

As defined by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, addiction is a chronic brain disease that affects the brain’s reward, pleasure, memory, and motivation.

Like many chronic diseases, it does not just spring up one day. Often, several circumstances line up that, over time, cause a person who would otherwise enjoy casual drinking or avoid substance misuse to become addicted to drugs or alcohol.

The process of developing addiction, in this case, tends to occur over a series of stages and, like other chronic illnesses, often turns into a cycle of addiction, treatment or abstinence, and relapse.

The multiple stages of addiction can occur over a short period of time, or they can take months or even years to develop.

A person who has only occasionally had a casual drink may, over years, develop a habit that can turn into an alcohol use disorder.

Compulsiveness V/S Consciousness...

The most important aspect one can never overlook.

If we split the entire process of Consciousness it can be like...

What
Why
When and (Most Important again)
How...???

It's basically a transformation of Information into Knowledge...

How... very very important.

The video attached is self expressive.

Thanks.

Yesterday, I talked about Character Defects and how it is directly responsible for triggering Addiction.

Character Defects: Anger.

It is a situation where you feel that things are not happening as per your wish or expectation...

It also happens some time where you feel helpless in managing or controlling a situation and your powerlessness triggers frustration and Ultimately it ends up with Anger.

Here we need to understand the two fundamental points...

One is Reaction
The Second one is Response.

In reaction mode you try to prove yourself right... Here the selfish behaviour keeps you in the Center...

Focus is on: WHO IS RIGHT?

Where as In Response... You analyse the situation in a holistic way... Try to understand the view point of the opponent and then derive the conclusion...

Focus is on : WHAT IS RIGHT?

Whenever you feel you landed up in a situation where you feel yourself stuck in a dilemma.... Follow the following tactics...

Wait for a while.

Take a break.

Try and get advice from the person who you think is the better one to help you...

Act..

Mind it Reaction is always impulsive behavior...

Response is methodological...

Thanks.
