Dr. Menon on Huntington’s Disease – International Conference at NIMHANS

Huntington’s Disease is a rare, genetically transmitted condition that can affect both men and women. It usually presents after the age of 30, though in some cases, when symptoms appear before 18 years, it is termed juvenile Huntington’s Disease.

The illness currently has no cure, but its symptoms—ranging from psychiatric and emotional disturbances to progressive movement disorders—can be managed with timely interventions, medical care, and comprehensive support.

On 24th August 2025, Dr. Menon had the distinguished opportunity to present at the International Conference hosted by NIMHANS, Bangalore, where renowned speakers from across the globe shared their research and insights.

Dr. Menon’s talk highlighted the critical role of palliative care centres in supporting Huntington’s patients and their families—not just in managing symptoms, but also in addressing the emotional, social, and caregiving challenges associated with the disease. The presentation emphasized that holistic, compassionate care can significantly enhance the quality of life for both patients and their loved ones.

Raksha Bandhan is a festival that celebrates the bond of love, protection, and togetherness — and at Dr. Menon’s Palliative Care, we believe these values have no age limit.

This year, in collaboration with the Brahmakumaris from the Kasarwadavli Thane Centre, whereby BK Sisters and Brothers came and celebrated Raksha Bandhan with our beloved senior citizens in a truly heartwarming way by tieing Rakhi to them.

The day was filled with vibrant smiles, soulful blessings, devotional songs, and the symbolic tying of rakhis that reflected deep respect and affection.

Every moment — from the laughter in the air to the blessings in every handshake — reminded us that festivals become even more beautiful when shared with those who value love and compassion the most.
