After 25+ years in surgery, I realised something uncomfortable…

Technical skill alone does NOT make a great surgeon.

We spend years learning how to operate.
But very little time learning:
— how to think
— how to decide
— how to stay calm when things don’t go as planned.

And yet, these are the moments that truly define us in the operating room.

Over the years, this realisation stayed with me —
shaping how I approached surgery, complications, and responsibility.
