Early detection can change the clinical outcome in rapidly progressing viral infections like Hantavirus.
In suspected Hantavirus infection, the diagnostic window is critical. During the acute viremic phase, RT-PCR offers higher clinical utility because it detects circulating viral RNA before a measurable antibody response develops.
Patients presenting early with fever, myalgia, thrombocytopenia, or respiratory involvement may still remain IgM seronegative initially, making molecular detection essential for timely diagnosis and clinical management.
RT-PCR therefore provides a significant advantage for early case identification, while IgM serology becomes more reliable later once the humoral immune response is established.
At InfeXn Laboratories, Hantavirus RT-PCR testing is available for early molecular detection in clinically suspected cases.
