๐ง Key Insight:
This case report describes a 66-year-old woman who developed a rare combined rupture of the flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) and flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) tendons of the small finger three weeks after a single corticosteroid injection for trigger finger. Surgical reconstruction using the FDS as an intercalary graft restored excellent finger function. (Journal of Orthopaedic Case Reports)
The report emphasizes that although corticosteroid injections remain an effective treatment for trigger finger, tendon rupture is a rare but important complication. Patients should be advised to gradually return to strenuous activities following injection. (Journal of Orthopaedic Case Reports)
