A world-first clinical trial is launching to test an experimental vaccine designed to prevent lung cancer in people at high risk of the disease. A world-first clinical trial is launching to test an experimental vaccine designed to prevent lung cancer in people at high risk of the disease.

People at high risk of lung cancer will soon be able to receive the first-ever experimental vaccine, 'LungVax', designed to prevent the disease, in a world-first clinical trial. The LungVax vaccine carries a series of genetic instructions which train the immune system to recognise tumour antigens on...

Alibaba Group Holding unveiled what it says is the world’s first artificial intelligence (AI) model to detect gastric cancer, even in early stages, by scanning computed tomography (CT) images.

Known as Grape – a name derived from “gastric cancer risk assessment procedure” – the system is a deep-learning framework that can analyse three-dimensional CT scans to detect and segment gastric cancer, also known as stomach cancer.

The system, following a similar innovation for pancreatic cancer, could change the screening approach globally, researchers say.

The UK's National Health Service (NHS) is rolling out a new "super jab" for cancer treatment, specifically an injectable form of the immunotherapy drug Nivolumab, which can treat up to 15 different types of cancer. This new method allows patients to receive their treatment in just 5 minutes, significantly reducing the time compared to the previous hour-long IV drip. England is the first place in Europe to offer this new injection.

Thousands of patients will benefit from a new cancer jab for more than a dozen types of the disease, with the NHS the first in Europe to offer the new injection. The health service is rolling out an injectable form of immunotherapy, nivolumab, which means patients can receive their fortnightly or mo...

Researchers at the University of Minnesota have completed a landmark first-in-human clinical trial using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing to supercharge the immune system against aggressive gastrointestinal (GI) cancers.

Researchers at the University of Minnesota have completed a first-in-human clinical trial testing a CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technique to help the immune system fight advanced gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. The results, recently published in Lancet Oncology, show encouraging signs of safety and pote...
