Did you know the cold sore virus can affect your eyes?

A dendritic ulcer is a branching, tree-like sore on the cornea, usually caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus. If you experience unexpected eye pain, redness, watering, sensitivity to light, or blurred vision, it is crucial not to ignore it.

Early diagnosis and antiviral treatment by an eye care professional are essential. Protect your vision; if your eye is red or painful, seek medical help immediately!

Protect Your Eyes: Understanding Double Pterygium

Ever heard of "surfer’s eye"? A double pterygium occurs when non-cancerous, fleshy growths develop from both the inner (nasal) and outer (temporal) sides of the eye at the same time, extending toward the clear cornea.

What causes it? Prolonged, unprotected exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight, along with chronic irritation from wind, dust, and dry environments.

Risks & Prevention: Symptoms include persistent redness, burning, and a gritty feeling. If both growths encroach on the pupil, they can warp corneal curvature and blur vision.

Shield your sight: always wear UV-blocking sunglasses outdoors and consult an eye care specialist early!

Did you know an untreated cataract can actually turn brown?

This is known as a brunescent or brown cataract—an advanced stage where the eye’s natural lens becomes extremely hard, dense, and amber-brown.

As it progresses, the world fades. Colors appear dull or brownish, night vision plummets, and severe vision loss sets in.

Waiting too long makes the lens harder, which can increase the complexity of surgery. The good news? It is completely treatable! Modern cataract surgery safely and effectively restores clear vision.

Don’t wait until your sight dims—schedule a comprehensive eye exam today!

If you feel severe irritation or suspect an insect wing or foreign body is stuck on the clear surface of your eye (the cornea), prompt medical care is vital.

Insect fragments can adhere firmly, causing pain, redness, tearing, and blurred vision.

Crucially, never attempt to remove it yourself. Rubbing the eye or using cotton swabs, tissues, or tweezers can severely scratch the cornea, drive the debris deeper, or introduce dangerous infections leading to permanent scarring and vision loss.
Consult an ophthalmologist immediately for safe extraction.

Ever felt like something is stuck in your eye that just won't leave? It might be a corneal foreign body

Whether it's a speck of dust, sand, or metal, these tiny particles can lodge directly onto your cornea. This triggers intense pain, redness, heavy tearing, and light sensitivity.

The golden rule ? Never rub your eye! Rubbing can cause severe scratches and lead to dangerous infections.

Instead, blink gently or flush with artificial tears. If it stays put -visit your clinic immediately for safe, professional removal! Protect your vision.

Notice a painless bump on your eyelid? It might be a chalazion!

What is it? A chalazion develops when an oil gland (meibomian gland) in the eyelid becomes blocked. Unlike a stye, which is an acute, painful bacterial infection, a chalazion is typically painless, slow-growing, and feels like a firm, smooth lump.

Quick Care Tips: ✨ Warm Compresses: Apply for 10–15 minutes, 2-3 times daily to melt blocked oils.

✨ Hands Off: Never squeeze, pop, or scratch it!

✨ Clean Routine: Avoid eye makeup and keep eyelids clean.

If it persists or affects your vision, consult an eye specialist! 🩺
