After nearly five decades of visiting Ayurvedic hospitals, nursing homes and wellness spaces, Bruce Burger describes his experience at Swetaranya in a way that means a lot to us.

For him, Swetaranya represents something deeper than treatment.

It is the purity of the Ayurveda being practised, the devotion behind the daily rituals, the connection with the temple, and the profound sense of peace that surrounds the place.

He describes Swetaranya as a sacred space, one where the environment itself encourages stillness, reflection, and healing.

We are deeply grateful for his words, his trust in Dr Trivikraman, and the privilege of having him and his wife with us.

Some places are experienced. Some are felt.

Some journeys are not about finding a place. They are about finding a feeling. 😇

Bruce Burger has been coming to India since 1970. What began as a journey of seeking has, over the years, grown into a deep connection with the country, its traditions and its wisdom.

At Swetaranya, he speaks about what makes this place special to him: the traditions, the daily practices, the natural surroundings, and above all, the profound sense of peace he experiences here.

For us, hearing someone describe Swetaranya through those eyes is deeply meaningful.

A place where treatment is only one part of the experience.
Where nature, tradition, reflection and quietness become part of everyday life.☘️

Thank you, Bruce, for sharing your experience and for returning to Swetaranya once again. :)

"Ayurvedic medicines are natural, so they can never cause harm."

This is one of the most common misconceptions.

In Ayurveda, the safety and effectiveness of a medicine depend on several factors such as the quality of raw materials, where and how they are sourced, the purification process, the dosage, and most importantly, whether it is prescribed according to the individual's condition.

Classical Ayurveda never encourages unnecessary medicines or excessive prescriptions. The focus is always on identifying the root cause of an illness and using the minimum treatment required, supported by proper diet and lifestyle.

Just as even healthy food can cause discomfort when consumed in excess, medicines too should be taken responsibly and only under medical guidance.

Ayurveda is not just about what medicine you take; it's about why, when, and how you take it.

Mr. Sivaraman Swaminathan's journey to Swetaranya started with a recommendation from a friend. What followed was more than just treatment; it was an experience rooted in authentic Ayurveda, personalized care, and an environment that encouraged him to slow down, reconnect with himself, and embrace the healing process.

His words remind us that true healing isn't just about addressing symptoms. It's about giving your body the time, care, and space it needs to recover.

We're grateful for your trust and kind words, Mr Sivaraman Swaminathan.

When we think about mental health treatment, we often think about medicines, counselling, or therapy.

But what about food?

In Ayurveda, diet is never considered separate from treatment. The food we eat can influence our body, our mind, and even the way we respond to treatment. That's why dietary recommendations are often personalized based on an individual's health condition, body constitution, and specific needs.

There is no "one diet fits all" approach. What may be suitable for one person may not be appropriate for another.

At Swetaranya, dietary guidance is carefully planned to complement the overall treatment, supporting both physical and mental well-being.

Because sometimes, healing doesn't happen through medicines alone; it also begins with what we choose to put on our plate.

🌿 Food is not just nourishment. It can also be a part of the healing process.

Renowned Kathakali artist Peesappilly Rajeev shares his experience about Swetaranya. The challenge wasn't just neck and shoulder pain; it was finding a place where treatment felt personal and reassuring.

After completing a 14-day treatment programme at Swetaranya, he shares how the experience went beyond physical recovery. What stayed with him most was the calm environment, the compassionate care, and the feeling of being treated as a person rather than just a patient.

At Swetaranya, we believe healing is more than medicines and therapies. It is about creating an environment where both the body and the mind can recover.

We sincerely thank him for sharing his experience and wish him continued health and success in his artistic journey.

Mental health concerns don't always begin with a crisis.

Sometimes, they begin quietly.

You may notice that you're no longer able to work the way you once did. Things you enjoyed no longer interest you. Motivation fades. Everyday tasks begin to feel difficult, even without an obvious reason.

These changes shouldn't be ignored.

Seeking help isn't a sign of weakness; it's an opportunity to understand what's really happening.

In Ayurveda, mental well-being is approached from multiple dimensions. Treatment isn't limited to medicines alone. Depending on an individual's needs, care may include medical management, psychological support, counselling, or practices that nurture spiritual well-being.

Every person is different. Every journey is different. And so, every treatment should be personalized.

The first step is simple: don't hesitate to ask for help when you notice a change in yourself.

Healing begins with understanding.

Ayurveda believes that the right medicine, for the right person, at the right time, in the right dose is what brings the desired result.

A medicine that benefits one person may not be suitable for another. Your body constitution, digestive strength, age, health condition, and even the stage of an illness all influence which medicine should be prescribed.

This is why Ayurveda has always emphasized individualized treatment, not self-medication.

Today, it’s common to hear recommendations from friends or family members for a particular Ayurvedic medicine. While these suggestions may be well-intentioned, using any medicine without proper medical guidance can reduce its effectiveness and, in some cases, may even lead to unwanted effects.

The issue is not Ayurveda. The issue is using medicines without understanding when, why, and for whom they are intended.

Whether it is Ayurveda or any other system of medicine, consultation is not a formality - it is an essential part of safe and effective treatment.

Medicine is medicine, not food. It should always be taken with proper medical advice.

Your health deserves personalised care.
