Flat head in children part 2
Is your babyβs head looking flat? Should you use a helmet, a head-shaping pillow, or simply change positioning? π€
The good news is that many positional flat-head cases can improve with early, appropriate positioning and tummy time.
In Part 2, learn the practical steps parents can take:
β
Supervised tummy time
β
Encourage your baby to turn the head both ways
β
Alternate feeding and carrying sides
β
Change babyβs orientation in the crib
β
Limit prolonged awake time in car seats, rockers, swings and bouncers
β
Always follow safe sleep: on the back, on a firm, flat surface
β No mustard-seed pillows
β No head-shaping pillows or positioners
And remember: not every baby with a flat head needs a helmet. Helmet therapy is considered only in selected cases after appropriate specialist assessment.
If your baby consistently looks to one side, has difficulty turning the neck the other way, or the flattening is getting worse, consult your Pediatrician.
