Aggression in children is often their way of communicating a feeling they don’t yet know how to manage.

Instead of focusing only on stopping the behaviour, help your child understand and regulate what’s happening underneath it.

• Stay calm yourself – A calm response helps your child settle down too.
• Set clear boundaries – Validate the feeling while firmly stopping harmful behaviour.
• Name the emotion – Help them put words like angry, frustrated or upset to what they’re feeling.
• Look for triggers – Hunger, tiredness, overstimulation or frustration may be contributing.
• Teach safer ways to express anger – Encourage words, deep breathing, movement or taking a break.
• Avoid shouting or physical punishment – Aggression shouldn’t be corrected with more aggression.
• Praise calm behaviour – Appreciate them when they express difficult emotions appropriately.
• Be consistent – Predictable rules and consequences help children understand boundaries.

Remember, the goal isn’t to teach a child not to feel angry. It’s to teach them what to do with that anger.

Parenting comes with enough pressure without feeling like you need to buy every “must-have” baby product out there. Remember, your baby doesn’t need every new gadget, cream or accessory they see online. Focus on what is safe, age-appropriate and genuinely useful. And when you’re unsure, your paediatrician is a better source than a viral reel.

“Give them more, it’s healthy!” - sounds familiar?

Parents often worry about whether their child is eating enough, so when the food on the plate is nutritious, it can feel like there’s no harm in offering more.

But even nutritious foods can become too much when portions are excessive or offered too frequently.

A handful of dry fruits can turn into several handfuls.
A small smoothie can become a large glass.
A little honey or jaggery can slowly become an everyday extra.
And “healthy” granola or cereal can sometimes contain more sugar than parents realise.

This doesn’t mean these foods are bad. It means portion matters.

Children need different amounts depending on their age, growth, activity and overall diet. Instead of obsessing over whether a food is “good” or “bad,” focus on balance, variety and mindful portions.

And remember - your child’s plate doesn’t have to be perfect every day.

A baby sleeping 6–7 hours at night sounds like every parent’s dream… until you start wondering, “Should I wake my baby up to feed?”

The answer isn’t simply about the number of hours your baby sleeps. What matters is the bigger picture:
* Is your baby gaining weight appropriately?
* Are they active and alert when awake?
* Are they feeding adequately through the day?
* Is their overall growth on track?

Many babies gradually begin sleeping for longer stretches at night and may compensate by feeding more frequently during the day.

However, age matters too—newborns and babies with feeding or weight-gain concerns may need to be woken for feeds as advised by their paediatrician.

So, don’t compare your baby’s sleep schedule with another baby’s or blindly follow internet advice. Every little one grows at their own pace. 🤍

When in doubt, discuss your baby’s feeding, sleep, and growth pattern with your paediatrician.

A stroke isn't something most people associate with newborns—but although it's rare, it can happen, and recognizing the warning signs early can make a significant difference.

If your newborn has seizures, feeds poorly, seems unusually sleepy, has difficulty breathing, or shows weakness or reduced movement on one side of the body, it's important to seek immediate medical attention. These symptoms don't always mean a stroke, but they should never be ignored.

Early diagnosis and prompt treatment can improve outcomes and give your baby the best possible care. As parents, trusting your instincts and acting quickly is one of the most important things you can do.
