Cataract vs Glaucoma: Know the Difference Before It’s Too Late 👁️
Many people think, "If I can see clearly, why should I visit an eye doctor?" Unfortunately, that mindset can be dangerous.
🔹 Cataract has one effective treatment: surgery. Modern cataract surgery usually takes just 15–20 minutes. The cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens—typically without injections or stitches.
🔹 Glaucoma is different. The goal is not to restore lost vision but to protect the vision that remains. Treatment often starts with eye drops to control eye pressure, and in some cases, laser treatment or surgery may be needed.
⚠️ The biggest danger with glaucoma is that it often causes no pain and no noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Vision loss happens so slowly that many people don't realize it until significant damage has already occurred.
With cataracts, delaying treatment can also make surgery more challenging because the lens becomes harder over time.
✅ Regular eye check-ups can help detect problems early and protect your sight.
