When does a fracture need a ROD instead of a screw or plate? 🦴🔩

Doctors choose an Intramedullary Nail (Rod) based on 4 key factors:

1️⃣ Type of fracture — the kind of force the bone experienced
2️⃣ Location of the bone — which bone, and where the fracture is
3️⃣ Patient's age & bone quality — a child's bone heals differently than an elderly patient's
4️⃣ Stability needed — how firmly the fracture needs to be held in place

Every fracture is different, which is why the implant choice is different too. Always discuss your specific case with your surgeon.

Bone (हड्डी) टूटने पर Doctor कैसे decide करते हैं कि Screw लगेगा, Plate लगेगी या Rod? 🦴

बहुत से patients पूछते हैं कि fracture के operation में अलग-अलग implants क्यों use होते हैं — जवाब है: हर fracture का type अलग होता है, इसलिए treatment भी अलग होता है।

🔩 Screw — छोटे या hairline fractures में हड्डी के टुकड़ों को आपस में जोड़ने के लिए
🔧 Plate — जहाँ हड्डी कई जगह से टूटी हो, वहाँ support देने के लिए
🦴 Rod (Intramedullary Nail) — लंबी हड्डियों (जैसे thigh bone) के fracture में अंदर से support देने के लिए

From a BHU classroom to a robotic OR — the journey behind the surgery. 🦴🤖

Kya aapko pata hai — osteoporosis mein haddiyan andar hi andar kamzor hoti rehti hain, aur zyadatar logon ko iska pata tab chalta hai jab ek halki si girawat ya chhoti si chot bhi fracture bana deti hai. 😔

That could be an ACL tear — one of the most common sports and accident-related knee injuries.

Here's what you need to know:
🔹 ACL = a key ligament that stabilizes your knee
🔹 Common causes: sudden twisting, pivoting, direct impact, falls
