Boycott USA products as they slapped 100% taxes on us
Actor Sonu Sood sparked a social-media discussion after seeing long queues of customers waiting outside Apple stores for the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series in India. As buyers waited for hours—and in some cases overnight—to purchase the latest devices, Sood used the scenes to make a broader comment about consumer priorities.
He wrote: “New phone, new EMI… same old bills!” and suggested that people might also consider lining up to create positive social change rather than focusing only on upgrading gadgets. He concluded that “the real upgrade is a better society.”
The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max went on sale in India on September 18, 2026, attracting substantial launch-day crowds in cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Noida and Bengaluru.
Sood’s comment was not an argument that people should never purchase expensive phones. Rather, it was a humorous criticism of excessive consumer enthusiasm and the use of EMIs for frequent technology upgrades.
Some users agreed with him, while others argued that people are free to spend their own money however they choose.
The larger conversation is about balance. Technology can improve everyday life, but financial responsibility, social awareness and community improvement can also be considered meaningful forms of progress.
