Hands-on Atherectomy STEALTH 360™ Workshop at AVBRH, Sawangi, Wardha
Successfully conducted the Hands-on Atherectomy STEALTH 360™ Workshop at the Department of Interventional Radiology, AVBRH, Sawangi, Wardha, on 21 August 2026.

Led by Dr. Pankaj Banode, the workshop brought together 2 faculty members and 15 fellows from Central India for focused training on the principles, patient selection, and procedural techniques of atherectomy in heavily calcified peripheral arterial disease (PAD).

The workshop provided a valuable blend of advanced technology, hands-on learning, and clinical decision-making, with the aim of strengthening endovascular expertise and advancing limb-salvage care.

🏥 जिवती, जि. चंद्रपूर येथे आचार्य विनोबा भावे ग्रामीण रुग्णालय (AVBRH, Wardha) तर्फे महाआरोग्य शिबिराचे आयोजन — 900 हून अधिक रुग्णांना लाभ! 🙌

आमदार श्री देवराव भोंगळे यांच्या सहकार्याने पार पडलेल्या या शिबिरात 20+ डॉक्टर व 20 आरोग्य कर्मचाऱ्यांनी मोफत तपासणी, मधुमेह, उच्च रक्तदाब व ॲनिमियाची तपासणी आणि जनजागृती सत्रे घेतली.
146 रुग्णांना पुढील उपचारांसाठी आवीभाग्रुरु रुग्णालय, वर्धा येथे PMJAY आयुष्मान भारत योजनेअंतर्गत मोफत संदर्भित करण्यात आले.

The Community Services Division, AVBRH, in association with the Dept of Dermatology, organised an informative session for the community around Wardha.
Dr Bhushan Madke, Professor & Head, Dept of Dermatology, covered the basics of hair fall, dietary measures & available treatment options at AVBRH.

Rare Reconstructive Milestone at SGM Cancer Hospital
When a patient's oral cancer recurred after two previous reconstructions had already failed, our Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery team faced a rare challenge — the two most commonly used tissue options had already been used up.
Dr. Firoz Rajiv Borle, Chief Plastic & Reconstructive Microsurgeon, performed a highly advanced Medial Sural Artery Perforator (MSAP) Free Flap, using skin from the patient's calf to rebuild the tongue — joining blood vessels less than one millimetre wide under a high-powered microscope.

🌍 World Population Day Observed at AVBRH 🌍
The Department of Community Health Nursing, Smt. Radhikabai Meghe Memorial College of Nursing (SRMMCON), Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha, successfully organized a World Population Day Awareness Programme on 11 July 2026 at Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital (AVBRH), Sawangi.

Conducted under the guidance of Ms. Madhuri Shambharkar and Ms. Achita Sawarkar, the programme focused on population stabilization, family planning, birth spacing, and responsible parenthood, aligned with the 2026 World Population Day theme:

"Realizing the hopes and aspirations of young people – today and for the future."

The awareness session encouraged informed decision-making and highlighted the importance of empowering individuals and families to build a healthier, more sustainable future.

🌿 Free OPD Screening Camp for Senior Citizens at AVBRH 🌿

Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital (AVBRH), a constituent hospital of DMIHER, successfully conducted the first free OPD-level health screening camp for senior citizens from Wardha district in collaboration with Aadharwad Organisation.

👵👴 Around 50 senior citizens participated in this initiative and received:
✅ Free specialist consultations
✅ Free blood investigations
✅ X-ray and USG (where clinically indicated)
✅ Comprehensive clinical examination
✅ Health counselling and orientation on the services available at DMIHER Hospitals

Participants were also guided about:
🔹 Free consultations at AVBRH, SGM & SMHRC
🔹 Family Health Card benefits
🔹 PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat) Card facilities

This initiative aims to promote preventive healthcare among the elderly, enabling early detection of diseases, timely treatment, and improved quality of life. AVBRH encourages all senior citizens to come forward for regular health screening for the well-being of themselves and their families.

The beneficiaries appreciated the services provided and expressed their satisfaction with the care and support received.

The initiative was led under the guidance of Dr. Nilesh Agrawal, COO, DMIHER, and Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director, Community Services, with the dedicated efforts of Ms. Samarpita Mukherjee, Mr. N. P. Shingne and the AVBRH team. Special thanks to Mr. Sheikh Hasam from Aadharwad Organisation for his valuable support in organizing the camp.
