Let's talk about the difference between a movement goal and a movement obsession.
A goal gives you direction. An obsession makes you believe that anything less than the final position doesn't count. And that's where people often get discouraged. Your neighbour might comfortably sit in a deep squat. Your yoga teacher might stay there for ten minutes. Your three-year-old grandchild might practically live there. Wonderful for them. But their movement capacity isn't your starting point. The question isn't how quickly you can achieve the final position. It's what you can explore today that wasn't accessible yesterday.
I've created a free 7-Day Deep Squat Challenge on YouTube for anyone who wants to explore this movement further. You'll find it on my channel: Mia Pham โ€“ Body Intelligence.
Stay curious. Keep exploring. Keep practising. Your body is not broken. It is patterned. And patterns can change.

Since when did every movement become another achievement to unlock? Another challenge. Another milestone. Another perfect pose for the camera. And somewhere along the way, we forgot that movement can actually be FUN. You don't need to turn your body into another full-time improvement project. Sometimes the biggest breakthrough isn't reaching a new position. It's discovering that you enjoy moving again. Because when movement becomes something you look forward to, rather than another obligation on your to-do list, you're far more likely to make it part of your life. And THAT is where longevity gets interesting. Want to give your squat a little more attention? My free 7-Day Deep Squat Challenge is waiting for you on YouTube: **Mia Pham โ€“ Body Intelligence.**

๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ”ฅHere's a question worth asking: When did you last do something physically challenging without immediately deciding you were bad at it? We tend to treat difficulty as a verdict. Too stiff. Too old. Too unfit. End of story. But difficulty can also be an invitation to get curious. What if, instead of judging what you can't do today, you started exploring what might become possible tomorrow? That's a very different relationship with your body. And it's one worth developing at 30, 50, 70, or 90. Because the goal isn't to move like a 20-year-old forever. It's to keep discovering what movement freedom means at every stage of your life. A toddler can spend ages examining an interesting stone while squatting.
An adult drops their keys and suddenly performs a carefully negotiated operation involving the knees, back, and nearest piece of furniture. We don't just lose fitness when our movement habits change. We may gradually become less familiar with positions we no longer visit. But here's the interesting question: Which everyday movements have quietly disappeared from your life? Sitting on the floor? Getting up without your hands? Squatting to reach something low? Your answer might tell you more about your movement habits than your daily step count. Your body is not broken. It is patterned. And patterns can change.

โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ˜œApparently, the bathroom has become my second movement studio. No membership required. No fancy equipment. Just a toothbrush and a slightly unconventional relationship with the bathroom floor. Here's what I find fascinating: we've made movement into something that requires an appointment, an outfit, and a dedicated hour in our calendar. Meanwhile, everyday life offers dozens of opportunities to move differently.I'm not against workouts. I love them. But I also love the idea that movement belongs to everyday life, not just the gym. A little less scheduling. A little more living. What's your most unusual everyday movement habit? I'm curious!Your body is not broken. It is patterned. When did enjoying life become another item on our wellness checklist? Apparently, even doing nothing now needs a scientific explanation and a measurable health benefit. ๐Ÿ˜ Maybe the greatest luxury isn't another supplement, another routine, or another productivity hack. Maybe it's having an afternoon with absolutely nothing to accomplish. What's your favourite little everyday luxury? Your body is not broken. It is patterned. And patterns can change.

Social media loves showing us what a perfectly trained body can do. Beautiful movements. Extraordinary flexibility. Incredible strength. Impressive. Absolutely. Accessible to everyone watching? Not necessarily. Someone who struggles to get off the floor doesn't need to watch another person perform an advanced movement that took years to master. They need a realistic starting point. And that starting point might look completely different for a 35-year-old athlete, a 60-year-old gardener, or someone returning to movement after years of inactivity. Progress isn't about performing the most impressive version. It's about expanding what's possible from where you are today. So stop comparing your beginning with someone else's highlight reel. Stay curious. Keep exploring. Keep practising. Your body is not broken. It is patterned. And patterns can change.

#2 Understand your pattern: Getting Up From the Floor: Where Does Your Movement Get Stuck?Ever watched someone get up from the floor effortlessly and wondered why your version looks like a complicated furniture assembly project Here's something worth noticing: Your body has movement preferences. You probably step forward with the same leg. Turn in the same direction. Reach for the floor with the same hand. Familiar doesn't necessarily mean efficient. Sometimes we repeat a movement strategy simply because it's the one we've used for years. Try observing your everyday transitions. Which leg leads when you climb stairs? Which side do you turn toward when getting out of bed? Do you always use the same hand to push yourself up? These little preferences aren't automatically problems. But they can reveal how your body organizes movement. And noticing a preference gives you an opportunity to explore another possibility. Your body is not broken. It is patterned. And patterns can change.

1 Identy your pattern: 3. Strong Enough to Walk, But Not to Get Up?
Funny how we measure fitness by how far we can walk, how much weight we can lift, or how many steps we've collected on our smartwatch. But when was the last time your fitness tracker celebrated your ability to get off the floor? Exactly. ๐Ÿ˜
Getting down is easy. Gravity offers excellent customer service. Getting back up? That's where your body's real-life movement skills get tested. Here's a little challenge: Think about five everyday situations where you need to get down to the ground. Playing with children, gardening, picking something up, sitting on the grass, reaching underneath your sofa. How often do you actually practise getting back up? Your body doesn't automatically maintain abilities you rarely use. And the good news? Movement skills can be explored and developed at any age. Your body is not broken. It is patterned. And patterns can change.

53 years young. Twenty years with lupus. And still making plans that involve mountains, adventures, and a little bit of trouble. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Living with a chronic condition teaches you something that no birthday cake ever will: life doesn't wait for the perfect circumstances. Some days are full of energy. Others require a different rhythm. And learning to respect both is part of living well. I don't measure a good life by how many candles are on my cake or how many limitations I can overcome. I measure it by the experiences I continue to create, the curiosity I haven't lost, and the freedom to make choices that feel right for me. Because the real privilege isn't looking younger. It's having a life you're excited to grow older in. Here's to another year of curiosity, movement, and living fully. ๐Ÿฅ‚
