I didn’t expect the lioness to be so wise… The red dust settles into the deep lines of my palms, mapping an ancient message that asks for nothing but acceptance.

Ten feet away, I hear the lioness breathe. Her low, heavy rumble vibrates through me like a long lost lover. It strikes me directly in a raw, visceral shudder, a losing oneself in the ecstasy.

I watch her crouch low in the grass, perfectly still, entirely consumed by her quest. I understand her hunger held in check, waiting for the right moment but not feeling the pressure of time—she has nothing but time, unlike me.

I stare into her eyes and I feel like she’s staring into mine. She’s wise, she understands. She knows that I too have desires.

She waits patiently, a lesson I need to learn. She understands and lives in wildness, and knows how to wait in the shadows.

Perhaps that’s the lesson: learning to be patient, sometimes waiting for what you want to come to you, knowing when the moment feels right.

Out here, the deepest connections are the ones you cannot see. It is the unseen current running between the roots of the trees. It is the way the earth holds the ghost of the midday heat.

It is a profound, wistful ache that expands with the wilderness—not a void, but a heavy, beautiful pull toward a place I am not permitted to go.

There is an echo in this space, a quiet vibration that runs parallel to the lioness’s purr. It is the raw passion moving fiercely toward something distant, entirely hidden from the surface.

I let the longing rise up, powerful and unspoken, and I bury it right here into the ancient soil.

There are places on this earth that hold us, but then there are places that return us to ourselves. Sitting by the fire tonight after a day on safari, watching the African sky melt into dusk, the raw emotion was so overwhelming it brought tears to my eyes. Out here in the quiet wild, away from all the expectations and noise, I am reminded of what it feels like to be completely, deeply at home in my own skin.

Johannesburg is our essential threshold. Before we embark deep into the bush tomorrow for safari, we spent today bearing witness to history at Constitution Hill. The former complex where both Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi were imprisoned. To understand the wild soul of South Africa, one must first hold space for what came before. Moving beyond surface facts and into deep feeling allows us to touch the true heart of a landscape.

There is a distinct magic in returning to a place that already knows your story. 🇿🇦 From the weaver bird nests outside my window to the familiar faces that feel like family, this hotel is my sanctuary. South Africa, your hospitality never ceases to amaze me. 🤎

Have you ever had a strange, quiet encounter in nature that felt like a message meant just for you? Share softly below. 👇Last year, the moment I arrived in Africa, I was walking down this same lush, garden path when I stepped on something hard... yet squishy. I looked down, and it was a frog. He scampered off into the dark bushes, but I stood there, utterly heartbroken, never knowing if he survived. I couldn’t let it go. I spent days reading local African folklore and ancient myths about what it means to encounter a frog. And then... seven different frogs came to me over that month long trip in Africa.
In depth psychology, we know these moments aren’t random. synchronicities are invitations to look closer. What began as a startled moment on a path in Africa evolved into a book I’m writing The Seven Frogs of Africa, a deep reflection on folklore, transformation, and a woman encountering 7 frogs to find the deeper meaning in her own life and to find the one who s the true prince!..

Ordinary travel changes your scenery, but a true journey changes your internal geography. ✈️🌍
Currently navigating a 10 hour layover in London on the way to Africa. My secret travel hack? Talking my way through terminal security to access Heathrow’s finest sanctuary: the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge. A hot shower, a quiet corner, and lunch at the famous noodle bar before the long flight south.
As lovely as this pause is, it’s only the threshold. In just a short time, we’ll be deep in the African bush, where the daily noise evaporates and the wild landscape acts as a mirror for the psyche.
When you travel with Mind Body Passport, you step away from the noise of the crowd. This is the essence of Mind Body Passport. We don’t just move through places; we travel with intention, stepping off the beaten path to experience genuine transformation. Become a true traveler, not a tourist.

In our daily lives, we are constantly holding space, responding to messages, and managing demands. But at 30,000 feet, the noise of the world drops away. You can’t rush the plane. You can’t answer the email. You are simply held in a quiet, boundary-less sanctuary above the clouds.

Do you use long flights to disconnect, write, and think, or do you sleep the whole way? I’d love to know your air-time ritual below! ☁️👇.

Sitting alone in this terminal, I am resting in the quiet space of the in-between.
Ten hours between London and Africa, completely suspended. I am traveling through the liminal, preparing myself to enter the wild of the savannah.
I love this space because it forces me to sit with myself in the gap. I’m no longer the person who boarded the first flight, and I haven’t yet met the version of me about to land.
Growth requires this threshold. It is the only place where we can successfully shed our old skin to become something entirely new, something better.
This is the inner landscape we navigate at Mind Body Passport.

Even at my age, my dad was always the very last person I talked to before takeoff. He loved travel as much as I do. And every single time, right before hanging up, he’d say: ‘I love you, and don’t talk to strangers.’ When he passed two years ago, the thought of hopping on a plane without hearing his voice broke my heart. But then my son took up the torch. Now, right before I board, my son calls and says: ‘Mom, I love you. Don’t talk to strangers.’ And I still cry every time. Because travel and my dad will always go hand in hand. Is there someone in your life whose voice you carry with you whenever you travel? Tell me about them in the comments. Who is the person whose memory travels with you? Share below! 👇

One last walk on my home trails in Southern California before crossing the threshold to Africa. 🌿✈️
There is always a sacred pause before a major journey, a moment where you feel the ground beneath your feet and listen to what is calling you forward. As my feet hit the earth today, my heart is already stepping into the vast, ancient container of the savannah.
There is a quiet reverence that takes over right before crossing a threshold like this; leaving behind the familiar hills of home to enter a landscape that demands our raw, untamed presence.
On this journey, we won’t just be walking through wild nature; we will be stepping into an active rhino conservation intervention, standing face-to-face with these ancient, armor-plated creatures, holding space for their protection and the delicate balance of the wild.
We will actively participate in saving the rhinos, a deeply moving, hands on intervention to protect one of the most ancient species on earth. To stand in the presence of these magnificent beings in their wild home is a feeling that changes you forever.
Our journey is just beginning, and I would love for you to be a part of it.
Follow our journey as we enter the bush.
Follow to stay connected and follow us into the heart of the bush. 🦏✨. 🦏❤️
