offer private clinical consultations in the metabolic and integrative oncology space as a Registered Nutritionist and Terrain Advocate specialising in supporting metabolic systems of obesity and weight loss, blood glucose regulation and cances. I do this by coaching on nutrition to empower people to embrace the power of food and diet in their healing process, and as prevention. I provide simple and safe lifestyle recommendations to support your terrain and help flip the switch on metabolic processes that might be contributing to cancer and poor metabolic health. Most importantly, I hold space for my clients and offer them encouragement to navigate their health and/or cancer journey and become the champions of their care. This 90 minute Japanese Calligraphy experience was an oasis of calm reflection in amongst the crazy energy of Tokyo! The practise of writing was beautiful and relaxing. We each chose a special word to write on our canvas and learnt how to write our names.

More importantly, we spent time connecting as a family which in today’s screen-led lifestyles is increasingly more challenging.

The word for calligraphy in Japanese is sho-do and translates as ‘the path of writing’ with the -do embodying the spiritual and reflective pathway as well as the practical. This is why other endeavours such as martial arts - Judo and Kenzo - also end with -do.

There is a lot of emphasis on purpose and practice here in Japan, combined with Blue Zone principles of diet, exercise, community and togetherness.

My nervous system feels perfectly zen after this!

Whole food ingredients, freshly cooked at our table.
It’s that simple.

So much of Western dining is reliant on ultra processed ingredients, pre-prepared elements such as sauces, frozen foods (sometimes whole meals!) heated to order.

The beauty of travelling is reconnecting with real foods cooked in the local traditions.

One of the things that has shocked me this year when it comes to aging and longevity is how quickly things can shift when your routine changes.

My pace of aging and metabolic age has been consistent - around the 42-43 yrs as compared to my biological age of 50 - until April of this year when I doubled my work commitments and, as a consequence dedicated less time to diet, exercise, stress management, relaxation and sleep.

Look what happened!

My time in Okinawa - A renowned blue zone and home to one of the world’s highest concentrations of centenarians- has been dedicated to self practices such as fasting, tai chi, 10+ hours sleep nightly, rising at sunrise for circadian rhythm, breath work, low carb diet (lots of sashimi!), reading, puzzling, walking, swimming and more…

Whether I can get those lost metabolic years back is a question mark however my pace of aging has slowed back to its previous level and the results can be felt body wide.

Wearable tech is a great leveller. I have been feeling the strain over these past months but needed a visual ‘kick up the butt’ to reprioritise my health.

The irony is not lost on me. I talk health hacks to my clients and yet failed to slow down and notice my own needs.

The learning here is that your health can change quickly. And so, protecting those foundational habits to safeguard your pace of ageing is important.

Blue Zones share a deep connection with the natural environment - earth, blue skies, sunlight exposure, water.

We can replicate this the world over by ensuring we start the day with adequate daylight exposure, and ground in nature as often and as much as possible - think daily walk, barefoot walking, nature bathing in green spaces.

Welcome to home to one of the world’s Blue Zones - known for longevity and high concentration of thriving centenarians.

I’m excited to be here, to soak up the atmosphere and learn some of the ways of life that contribute to their health and long life.

Coming from Italy - also one of the world’s Blue Zones and home to the Mediterranean Diet - I am excited to explore local foods and cultural specialities.

More to come…

The kimchi capital of the world!

Kimchi is not only served at every meal. It represents centuries of survival wisdom, communal sharing traditions, and health philosophies, connecting families and regions.

It’s considered a staple element of Intergenerational bonding with recipes and techniques handed down through family generations.

We know it in the west as a gut friendly food which labels its function and sadly neglects the wisdom of its making. The joy of communing and making food together.

So much of western culture is consumed by food in its fastest form - ordered, delivered, and eaten at speed.

The lotus flower universally symbolizes purity, resilience, and spiritual awakening. Because it roots in murky, muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom clean and untouched, it represents the human journey of overcoming hardship to achieve inner peace, transformation, and enlightenment.
