📢 As the 2026 edition of the ISICO online master course "Principles and Practice of Conservative Scoliosis Treatment - PPSCT" nears its conclusion in November, we are pleased to announce the opening of registration for the twelfth edition of this online course.

🌎️ The more than 30 participants in this 2026 edition, now almost over, come from 20 different countries, a record number, confirming that this is truly an international course.

Sabato 3 ottobre ad Asti, circa 40 tra medici di medicina generale e pediatri hanno partecipato al corso “La scoliosi: dall’età evolutiva all’anziano”, ospitato dall’Ordine provinciale dei Medici Chirurghi e degli Odontoiatri.
ISICO ha portato il proprio contributo con Fabio Zaina, fisiatra, e Martina Poggio, fisioterapista, impegnati in diverse sessioni dedicate alla diagnosi precoce, allo screening, al trattamento ortesico e alla gestione riabilitativa della scoliosi nelle diverse età della vita.
Il dottor Zaina ha approfondito in particolare la storia naturale della scoliosi, l’importanza di riconoscerla precocemente, il trattamento con corsetto in età evolutiva e la gestione della scoliosi dell’adulto.
Martina Poggio ha invece guidato la parte dedicata allo screening, spiegando quando e come eseguirlo, e ha partecipato insieme a Zaina alla sessione pratica sulla valutazione della scoliosi.
Un’occasione importante per condividere competenze specialistiche con i professionisti del territorio, che hanno un ruolo fondamentale nell’intercettare i primi segni della scoliosi e indirizzare tempestivamente i pazienti verso il percorso più appropriato.

La nostra paziente Lavinia Abate, , Miss Italia 2022, ha scelto di condividere la propria esperienza partecipando all'iniziativa della World Rehabilitation Alliance, rete dell'Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità (OMS), per sensibilizzare sull'importanza della riabilitazione.
Diagnosticata a 13 anni con una scoliosi di 53 gradi, Lavinia ha affrontato cinque anni di trattamento conservativo presso ISICO, senza rinunciare alle proprie passioni e ai propri sogni. Fino alla conquista della corona di Miss Italia nel 2022!

A brace must be worn for the number of hours prescribed by the doctor: this is essential in order to obtain the desired correction and avoid the risk of compromising the treatment.
It is important always to fasten it tightly. In this way, it will be less visible, will allow the best possible results to be achieved more quickly, and will be less uncomfortable when walking, running or sitting down.

It is always best first to slip the brace on and then lie down on the floor or a bed to tighten it: scoliotic curves are less pronounced when a patient is lying down, therefore, tightening the brace in this way will have the effect of “stabilising” the spine in a more correct position.

Immediately after meals, a brace can press uncomfortably on the abdomen: to reduce this sensation the belts can be loosened a little, but without removing the brace altogether.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the asymmetrical sacroiliac joint degeneration (SIJD) in degenerative lumbar scoliosis (DLS), and to evaluate the correlation between SIJ degeneration, spinopelvic parameters and clinical outcomes.
The findings highlight the importance of considering the SIJ during preoperative assessment and surgical planning for DLS, particularly in patients with severe SIJ degeneration, which may contribute to low back pain and functional limitation.
