Following my first EFT teacher, from .net.gr Kyriaky Polychroni, in Belgrade, who was warmly welcomed by the community led by Bojan Vuković, was an experience that reconnected me authentically with our model. Kyriaky teaches experientially; she embodies and conveys EFT with a full, human, and deeply emotional presence, just as she is in the therapy room.
Rooted in the systemic work of her teacher Vaso Vasiliou, she guided us through the transformations of couple bonds: from the extended family era, governed by shared norms and values, to a world centered on individual rights and differentiation, and then toward rediscovering the essential need for connection, belonging and being oneself while co-constructing a "we." This sociocultural journey allowed us to connect with our clients' inner worlds, bearing relational legacies often difficult to link to unexpressed needs, and to validate attachment strategies through a systemic lens.
The experiential part embodied this sensitivity: a universal language of love and attachment, capable of remaining close to Serbian couples' specific culture. It was powerful to see disconnection's drama normalized and every repair attempt's meaning recognized. As Bojan said: "All our knowledge comes from our body, making attachment theory so human."
The live session was an intense clinical moment in which Kyriaky softly guided a Serbian couple to touch, in the here and now, the vulnerability hidden beneath their attempts to reconnect emotionally.
What made this training special was the deep coherence between what is taught and what is lived: EFT as a tool navigating human experience's intensity, time passing, what transforms, what's left behind, what remains, supported by bonds' strength and connection's quality. A model that doesn't separate therapist from person.
It was also moving to see Bojan pass on what he received with generosity, humility, and sincere love. The hugs exchanged with fellow helpers were beautiful stones to keep as keepsakes.
An unforgettable learning journey. For the warm welcome of the , and for the resilience of people who continue to dream of a more humane city, rebuilding the bonds of today.
