Con profonda tristezza apprendiamo della scomparsa di Daisy Godts, collega, insegnante, mentore e amica, una figura straordinaria che ha dedicato più di quarant’anni della propria vita all’ortottica.
Daisy ha rappresentato molto più di una professionista di eccezionale valore. La sua passione, la sua energia, la curiosità, l’entusiasmo e la capacità di creare relazioni hanno lasciato un segno profondo in tutti coloro che hanno avuto la fortuna di incontrarla e di lavorare con lei.
Per decenni è stata una presenza importante nella comunità ortottica internazionale, contribuendo alla crescita dell’International Orthoptic Association e partecipando attivamente alla vita dell’Associazione Ortottica Belga e di numerose realtà scientifiche e professionali.
Il suo impegno ha attraversato confini e generazioni, formando e ispirando tanti ortottisti in tutto il mondo.
Ma ciò che resterà maggiormente nei nostri ricordi sarà la persona: Daisy, con il suo sorriso, la sua umanità, la sua generosità e il suo inesauribile desiderio di unire le persone.
La comunità ortottica perde una collega straordinaria e una grande ambasciatrice della nostra professione.
Il suo esempio, il suo insegnamento e tutto ciò che ha costruito continueranno a vivere nelle persone che ha incontrato e nelle generazioni di ortottisti che ha contribuito a formare.
Grazie Daisy.
Per quello che hai fatto.
Per quello che hai insegnato.
E soprattutto, per la persona che sei stata.
Alla sua famiglia, ai suoi amici e a tutti i colleghi che le sono stati vicini, esprimiamo le nostre più sincere condoglianze.
It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of Daisy Godts, an exceptional colleague, teacher, mentor and friend who devoted more than forty years of her life to orthoptics.
Daisy was much more than an outstanding professional. Her passion, energy, curiosity, enthusiasm and remarkable ability to bring people together left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of meeting and working with her.
For decades, she was an important presence within the international orthoptic community, contributing to the development of the International Orthoptic Association and playing an active role in the Belgian Orthoptic Association, as well as in numerous scientific and professional organisations.
Her commitment crossed borders and generations, inspiring and educating countless orthoptists around the world.
But what will remain most deeply in our memories is the person she was: Daisy, with her warmth, generosity, infectious enthusiasm and genuine desire to connect people.
The orthoptic community has lost an extraordinary colleague and a true ambassador for our profession.
Her example, her teaching and everything she built will continue to live on through the people she touched and the generations of orthoptists she helped shape.
Thank you, Daisy.
For everything you did.
For everything you taught us.
And above all, for the person you were.
