THANK YOU MESSAGE

I would like to thank you all for your greetings on my 91st birthday. As I mentioned to those gathered here in Leh, Ladakh, India on 6 July, when I look back on my life, I see that the core of my practice has been to be of benefit to others. That is the altruistic motivation with which I wake up every day.

Spreading compassion and kindness continues to be my life's primary mission. Such an attitude is essential to making our world a better place for everyone. I therefore call on my brothers and sisters everywhere, both young and old, to practice warm-heartedness and compassion, with genuine concern for the well-being of others. To be able to do so is, I believe, what it means to lead a meaningful and purposeful life of service.

As you may be aware, following a successful medical procedure on my left knee in New Delhi last month, I have since been recuperating here in Ladakh. As in past years, I find the climate here at this time of year well suited to my health, and I therefore plan to remain in Ladakh for the next several weeks.

Il mese di maggio, con il suo culmine ,quest'anno, nella giornata di domani, è per il buddhismo tibetano, il mese di Saka Dawa. Il Saka Dawa (o Saga Dawa) è la festività più sacra e importante del buddismo tibetano. Si celebra nel corso dell'omonimo quarto mese lunare, raggiungendo il culmine nel quindicesimo giorno, corrispondente alla luna piena. Il Saka Dawa commemora tre eventi fondamentali della vita del Buddha storico, Shakyamuni, la nascita, l'illuminazione (raggiunta proprio in una notte di luna piena) e il passaggio nel parinirvana (la liberazione definitiva oltre la morte) Nella tradizione tibetana, questo mese (e in particolare il giorno di luna piena) è conosciuto come il "mese dei meriti". Si crede che l'energia karmica di qualsiasi azione, positiva o negativa che sia, venga moltiplicata esponenzialmente (spesso si dice milioni di volte).Per questo motivo, durante il Saka Dawa i praticanti buddisti si impegnano ad accumulare "meriti" compiendo azioni virtuose, generose e pacifiche: praticare la meditazione, recitare mantra e fare offerte, prestando particolare attenzione a evitare pensieri o azioni negative.

HAPPY CHÖTRUL DÜCHEN!

Today we celebrate Chötrul Düchen, the “Great Day of Miraculous Manifestations,” one of the four major holidays in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

Observed on the first full moon of the Tibetan New Year, this sacred day is considered especially powerful and auspicious for prayer, meditation, and virtuous actions.

May your practice today be filled with clarity, merit, and blessings.
