Megh Malhar is a Hindustani classical raga. The name derives from the Sanskrit word Megh, meaning cloud. Legends say that this raga has the power to bring out rains in the area where it is sung. Megh Malhar is similar to raga Megh with a tint of Malhar in it.

According to Indian classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj, Megh Malhar is a seasonal raag and is sung as invitation to rains.

Se al bambino nel ventre dell’oscurità di sua madre fosse detto: “fuori c’è un mondo di luce con alte montagne, distese ondulate, grandi mari, bei giardini in fiore, ruscelli, un cielo pieno di stelle, e un sole fiammeggiante E tu dinanzi a queste meraviglie stai rinchiuso in questa oscurità”, il bambino non ancora nato, non sapendo nulla di queste meraviglie, non ci crederebbe e nessuna di esse. Così noi siamo dinanzi alla morte. Ecco perché abbiamo paura."
