Penny Henderson, Breastfeeding Coach, Chiropractor and Acupuncturist

Penny Henderson, Breastfeeding Coach, Chiropractor and Acupuncturist I’m Penny Henderson — a qualified Chiropractor, Acupuncturist and experienced Breastfeeding Coach based in Jersey.

Jersey Chiropractor, Breastfeeding and Infant feeding Coach and Acupuncturist experienced health professional supporting women in pregnancy, the fourth trimester and newborns with feeding difficulties, fussing or tongue tie diagnosis. With over 25 years of clinical experience, My area of special interest is in supporting pregnant women, new mums, and newborn babies through gentle, expert care. I

provide home visits for breastfeeding support with treatment of newborns experiencing restrictions which may be contributing to latching and feeding issues, or for babies who have a tongue tie or a recent tongue tie snip. I offer 'empower' hours to women in late pregnancy for both breast and bottle feeding. I bring a unique combination of regulated healthcare training and hands-on experience. I provide home visits for breastfeeding and infant feeding support, offering compassionate, evidence-based guidance to help you feed your baby confidently and comfortably. As a McTimoney Chiropractor, I also have a special interest in treating women during pregnancy — helping relieve pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, and back/neck discomfort, and encouraging optimal positioning for birth. Using the gentle cranio-sacral technique, I also treat newborns who may be showing signs of tension, tongue ties or latch difficulties, or discomfort that can affect feeding and settling. Whether you're preparing to breastfeed or navigating the early days with your newborn, I’m here to help you feel informed, supported, and empowered.

Dyschezia is a normal part of infant development, but if your baby is also showing signs of tension, restricted movement, or feeding difficulties alongside it, it may be worth a conversation.

Always speak to your health visitor or GP in the first instance and feel free to get in touch if you'd like to know more

So much energy goes into preparing for birth and rightly so. But what about preparing for feeding your baby?

The early days postpartum are intense. Having even a little knowledge about what to expect from breastfeeding before your baby arrives can make an enormous difference to your confidence when it matters most.

This is exactly why I offer my antenatal Power Hour and why I'll let this speak for itself:

"Friends had advised me to prep for breastfeeding, as they felt they had focused on birth prep and then as soon as baby arrived they felt they were not informed enough. Penny gave me lots of advice and was kind enough to back it up, simply, in the couple of days after birth with a couple of text messages. Very helpful when you are in those early postpartum days with lots to think about and learn. I am pleased to say our little boy is feeding like a trooper and our midwife was very impressed at his five day weigh in. Thank you Penny."

If you're expecting a baby and want to feel truly prepared for feeding your baby and not just the birth, please get in touch.

This week is World Breastfeeding Week (1–7 August) and it feels like the right moment to say a few things I passionately believe in.

Breastfeeding matters. For babies it provides ideal nutrition, immune support, and long term health benefits. For mums it reduces the risk of breast and ovarian cancer and supports that extraordinary bond that develops in the early weeks.

But breastfeeding can also be really, really hard. And in Jersey as everywhere too many mums stop before they wanted to, not because breastfeeding failed them, but because the support around them wasn't enough.

That's what World Breastfeeding Week is about. Shining a light on those barriers. Reminding families that help exists. And making sure no mum feels she has to figure it out alone.

If you're pregnant and thinking about breastfeeding, struggling right now, or supporting someone who is please share this post. You never know who needs to see it this week

I offer personalised breastfeeding support across Jersey, antenatal preparation, postnatal home visits, latch support, and remote consultations.

This World Breastfeeding Week I've written a blog post about something I feel strongly about, what good breastfeeding support should really look like for Jersey families, and who is best placed to provide it.

Jersey has a wonderful network of support. Midwives, Health Visitors, and the team at Family Nursing and Home Care do incredible work helping families get feeding established and they will be your first port of call.

Alongside those services, I offer something a little different as both a Breastfeeding Coach and a registered McTimoney Chiropractor. Many feeding difficulties have a physical root, and being able to assess and gently treat tension and restriction in babies, as well as support the feeding itself, means I can look at the whole picture together.

Good breastfeeding support should always be evidence-based, without judgement, coordinated, and provided by someone with the right qualifications and professional accountability behind them.

If you're pregnant, newly postnatal, or supporting someone who is, I hope this post is helpful. And if you'd like to find out whether I can help, I'd love to hear from you.
