Minimally invasive gynecologic surgery is growing at May Pen Hospital.

From hysteroscopy to laparoscopic hysterectomy, we’re expanding what can be done in the public healthcare system.

It’s been great seeing residents and theatre staff grow more confident through teaching and hands-on experience.

These procedures mean smaller incisions, less pain, shorter stays, and faster recovery for patients.

Proud of the team and the progress we’ve made.

Less cuts. More care.

IRCAD Strasbourg, France.

Recently had the opportunity to participate in advanced minimally invasive surgery training at IRCAD Strasbourg alongside surgeons from different parts of the world.

A few moments from the experience:-

1. Representing JAMAICA 🇯🇲
2. IRCAD Centre. A world leader in minimally invasive surgical education.

3–5. Hands on advanced laparoscopic training and live tissue surgery.

6. The future of surgery continues to evolve.

7–8. The Professors! International experience and expertise wrapped up in one.

9. New professional connections and perspectives from across the globe.
10. Strasbourg. A city now tied to another important chapter in my surgical journey.

Grateful for the experience, the people met along the way, and the opportunity to continue advancing minimally invasive gynaecology.

Hope on the horizon for endometriosis diagnosis.

A new study in The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, & Women’s Health explored a specialised imaging technique using ⁹⁹ᵐTc maraciclatide to help identify endometriosis.

The early results are encouraging:

82% sensitivity
100% specificity
Potential benefit for superficial peritoneal endometriosis

Early stage endometriosis can be difficult to detect on ultrasounds and MRI, so many women still face years of pain, uncertainty, and delayed diagnosis.

This is not yet a replacement for careful clinical assessment, expert imaging, or surgery where needed. The study was small, and larger trials are still needed.

But it is promising.

For women living with unexplained pelvic pain, painful periods, painful s*x, bowel symptoms, bladder symptoms, or infertility, every step toward earlier diagnosis is a step toward validation, relief, and better care.

Less delay.
More answers.
More hope.

Awareness is not enough.

After watching Below the Belt, one thing is clear: endometriosis cannot remain a condition that is acknowledged publicly but addressed too slowly in practice.

The conversation must move beyond visibility and into action through earlier diagnosis, better access to care, stronger support, and real policy attention.
