A heavy periods is most often a sign of underlying pathology such as fibroids, adenomyosis ( Endometriosis in the wall of the womb) polyps in the womb, underlying bleeding diseases / disorders.
These are evaluated with a history, examination, doing blood tests and a pelvic ultrasound.
