From burden to solutions, safe food starts long before it reaches our plates.

At the Southern Regional Health Authority World Food Safety Expo, held on Friday, June 5, 2026, we highlighted how poor sanitation on farms, unsafe slaughtering, improper food handling, uncovered foods, cross-contamination and poor waste disposal can affect the entire food chain.

The display also showed practical solutions, including clean animal pens, proper wastewater disposal, covered food, handwashing stations, clean utensils, temperature control and the safe separation of raw and cooked foods.

Together, these actions help protect families, prevent foodborne illnesses and support the goal of safe food everywhere.

Please see the video for details.
