Feline Tibial Fracture — Surgical Fixation 🦴
A displaced long-oblique/spiral mid-diaphyseal tibial fracture in a 1.8 kg cat.
Surgical stabilization was performed with careful restoration of length, alignment and cortical apposition, followed by fixation using a long anatomically contoured titanium locking plate and a 1.5 mm intramedullary K-wire for additional bending support.
In orthopedic fracture repair, the objective is not simply to fix the fracture — it is to create a mechanically stable construct while respecting the biology required for bone healing.
Now we let biology do its part. 🦴🐾
