Dr. Nakao visited the Laboratory of Veterinary Physiology at Gifu University to help to establish an experiment setup for a collaborative study. The laboratory has long been working on electrophysiology in gastrointestinal organs. The environment having lots of conventional physiology setups stimulated and encouraged me to do our science too. 東海大学には北海道札幌市にもキャンパスがあり約1300名の学生さんが勉強しています。生物学部には陸生の動物だけでなく海洋生物の専門家も在籍しており、海洋科学と水産学の研究設備も整備されています。北海道とは言え気温は30℃近くに上がった夏日でした。

The 124th JSVC conference took place at an excellent venue in Tokyo. Veterinary cardiologists gathered from across Japan and had exciting discussions. We presented our recent study and were given feedback. Dr. Nakao was awarded a distinguished veterinary scientist in cardiology. Outside the conference, our running team enjoyed 皇居ラン, running around the Imperial Palace, in the early morning. See all of you next time in Hakata.

第73回日本実験動物学会と日本実験動物医学専門医協会の関連会議のため沖縄に行ってきました。信頼性の高い科学データを生成するために使われる動物たちには国際規則に基づいた最大限のケアが施されています。この動物福祉を重視する動向はさらに熱を帯びて、欧米では立法や声明の取り組みも進んできています。こうした最新知見を本学の国際水準の研究活動に活用していきます。

The World Veterinary Association Congress 2026 took place at the Tokyo International Forum. There were lots of enthusiastic sessions on One Health, to which we veterinarians have taken the initiative. Also, sessions regarding Animal Welfare were informative and impressive. Many thanks for in-person discussions on site, which were really enjoyable.
