Have you heard of Klotho?

Klotho is a protein being studied for its relationship with biological pathways involved in cellular resilience, brain function, metabolism, and healthy aging.

In animal research, disrupting the Klotho gene produced aging-like changes and shortened lifespan in mice, while increasing Klotho expression extended lifespan in mouse models.

A study involving aged rhesus monkeys also found improved memory following the administration of a low dose of Klotho, drawing further attention to its potential connection with brain health and healthy aging.

Saisei Mirai Clinics has also conducted clinical research involving human participants.

In a study of 44 participants, plasma α-Klotho levels were measured during MAF intake. The group averages changed as follows:

Baseline: 218.4 pg/mL
After 3 months: 268.5 pg/mL — approximately 22.9% higher
After 6 months: 264.2 pg/mL — approximately 21.0% higher

At both three and six months, the average plasma α-Klotho level remained above the baseline value.

At the ends of our chromosomes are telomeres—protective structures that help maintain chromosome stability.

As cells divide, telomeres generally become shorter. When they become critically short, cells may stop dividing and enter a state known as cellular senescence.

This is one reason telomere biology has become an important area of ageing and longevity research. Telomere length can offer insight into biological ageing, although it is not a complete measure on its own and should be considered alongside other biological markers.
