Theory of Technological Competency as Caring in Nursing and Health Sciences A pioneering institute in the Department of Nursing, Institute of Biomedical Sciences Graduate School

The Rozzano Locsin Institute for the Advancement of the Theory of Technological Competency as Caring in Nursing and Health Sciences was founded on the conceptualization of technology, caring, and nursing in the theory of Technological Competency as Caring in Nursing (Locsin, 2005). Through the initiative of Dr. Tetsuya Tanioka and with the support of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at Tokushi

ma University, the significant and long-standing commitment and dedication of the institute were recognized to advance the knowledge of human caring in nursing. This recognition provided the unique opportunity for the RLI to engage in knowledge dissemination through international conferences, seminars, and workshops making visible the worldwide influential value of nursing grounded in caring science. The institute has launched three international conferences and seminar-workshops since 2016. The first conference had 16 scholars, students, and researchers in nursing and health sciences. The Second conference in 2018 had 145 participants, mostly international participants, and in 2020, the first virtual conference had more than 350 participants. This was co-sponsored by the Our Lady of Fatima University, Philippines through the exceptional coordination of Dr. Michael Joseph Dino, Director of the Research and Innovation Center of the university.
