Depression is a severely disabling condition that has a profound effect on all aspects of a sufferer's life. Depression is one of the most common of all psychiatric disorders. It is estimated that 5-10% of the population at any given time is suffering from identifiabe depression.

Many people have overcome depression though lifestyle changes, exercising and counselling, however, if your depression is severe to extreme, you should seek medical treatment and psychotherapy immediately.

LET’S TALK ABOUT BIPOLAR DISORDER

Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves. It’s more than just “mood swings.” It involves intense emotional states that can last days, weeks, or even longer.

What does it look like?

People with bipolar disorder experience two main types of episodes:

• Mania – feeling extremely energized, overly happy or irritable, needing little sleep, and sometimes making impulsive decisions

• Depression – feeling very low, hopeless, tired, and losing interest in things they once enjoyed

It’s not a personality flaw

Bipolar disorder is a medical condition—not a choice or weakness. With proper support, treatment, and understanding, people living with it can lead full and meaningful lives.

Why this matters

Stigma and misunderstanding often prevent people from seeking help. The more we talk openly and compassionately, the more we create safe spaces for others to heal.

How you can help someone with bipolar disorder?

• Listen without judgment
• Educate yourself
• Be patient and supportive
• Encourage seeking help from a psychiatrist.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Let’s keep the conversation going.
